Family Volunteer Hours and middle school service hours

Thank you to all parents and students that have volunteered so far this year. We could not do the many, many activities and events without you. Volunteering builds a strong Sacred Heart community and a way for parents to get to know each other.

Families may begin turning in the list of volunteer hours they have participated in this year. You may use the form attached at the bottom of the newsletter or type of a list and send it our way.

Students in grades 6-8 may also start turning in their service hours. Forms are located in their homeroom. Parents must sign this form acknowledging the service hours.

Science, Technology, and Engineering Preview Summer (STEPS) Program

STEPS Program is an introduction to the exciting world of science, technology, and engineering. We hope to expose learners to potential engineering careers, college life and ignite an interest in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

These summer day-long engineering programs are available at no-cost for girls who are in 6th or 8th grade. The programs are hosted by and held at the University of St. Thomas, School of Engineering in St. Paul, MN.

Participants engineer, make, connect with mentors, create projects in the engineering labs, unwind at the University of St. Thomas recreation facilities and work with engineering faculty to build resources that they can access throughout their high school careers.

For more information about the STEPS Program, please contact Michael Gerard, STEPS Program Coordinator at or 763-607-6428.

  • Girls who are in 6th or 8th grade are eligible to apply and are selected randomly by lottery.
  • STEPS one-day programs at St. Thomas are typically scheduled in June.
  • For summer 2023, the one-day camps are available for 6th and 8th grade girls on June 12 - 16, 2023.
