A Note From Mrs. Waters
Neither homework nor school books will go home anymore. However, we do want the students to continue reading books, from home or online, every night. Your child should also continue to play math games now and throughout the summer.
We are reviewing time to the hour and half hour. To celebrate the students learning of telling time, the students will be coloring a clock to show two halves and then will decorating the clock. This clock will be one that they can take home and hang in their bedroom. If you have not yet done so, please send in one AA battery for the clock.
We have started the ABC Countdown to the end of the year. Please be sure to check the calendar daily in case your child needs to wear something or bring something in to school that day. For example, on Tuesday for day U (Once Upon a Day), students should dress as their favorite fairytale character.
Reading
Students will participate in a chosen fairy tale Reader’s Theater. In groups, they will work on their reading fluency and having their character come alive.

Toy Drive
Middle school students are doing a toy collection drive for children with special needs. We strongly believe that such toys can be very helpful in assisting the learning for special needs children who might need a little extra help in order to achieve the milestones in their learning process. All donations will support the Sjak-Tari-US school which works with students who have developmental and learning challenges.
We kindly request your help with our initiative by asking for donations of educational toys along the lines of:
- Big piece puzzles
- Very soft, small, clean and good condition stuffed animals
- Learning mats, magnetic alphabets
- Building blocks
- Pencil Grips, triangular pencils
- Sensory tools or toys
- Fidget toys
- Play dough or similar substances
- Kinetic sand
Collection boxes will be placed around the lower elementary.
We appreciate your help.
