Every Student, Every Day, Deserves to Learn, Lead, & Excel!
Message from Ms. Perkins
Next week will be a short week for instruction. All schools will be closed Thursday, October 8 through Monday, October 12, 2020. We will open our doors for school (in-person and digital) on Tuesday, October 13, 2020.
Today you will receive information from your child's teacher and parent/teacher conferences. Please take a moment to schedule a day and time to meet with your child(ren)'s teacher. During this meeting the teacher will share important information about your child's progress and current grades. Early Release conferences will be held the week of October 19, 2020.
We appreciate all of the families who are supporting our students working digitally. Thank you for making sure they are attending all Zoom sessions, completing all assignments and joining with their teachers for small group meetings every day.
Have an awesome weekend!
Attendance Reminder:
Morning Announcements will be airing LIVE
This past week, we transitioned back to full-time LIVE announcements in the morning. They will no longer be recorded and placed on the eCLASS landing page. Rather, teachers will be connecting to our live feed and showing them while on Zoom at 8:15 am daily.

AKS at Home
As part of Gwinnett County Public Schools’ family engagement initiative, the school district seeks to empower parents with tools that allow them to help their children at home. Our AKS at Home project provides math and language arts resources to support families so that they truly are partners in their children’s learning. This support is available for families to access in the format that fits them and their schedule best. They can attend live virtual meetings, view recorded information at a time that best fits their schedule, or gain tips and suggestions on how to best help their students through tip sheets on a wide variety of topics.

AKS Review
The annual review of the Academic Knowledge and Skills (AKS) curriculum is open and runs through Oct. 12. Through the review process, parents, staff, and community members can give feedback on new AKS (Academic Knowledge and Skills) standards developed to align with the Georgia Standards of Excellence and/or Georgia Performance Standards. The AKS spells out the essential concepts students are expected to know and skills they should acquire in a given grade, subject, or course. This review is addressing AKS in career and technical education, Health and PE, and core academic courses. Input on these courses will be given via an online survey. On Nov. 5, the GEMS Oversight Committee--a group of community and school system representatives charged with the annual review of the AKS curriculum-- will review the suggestions and curriculum director comments before making recommendations to CEO/Superintendent J. Alvin Wilbanks for adoption by the School Board.
