On Saturday, December 5th, our district held a Reindeer Romp . There was a 1K and a 5K. Lots of teachers participated in the event. Over 4000 people came out to join the fun. Many families and children of all ages ran or walked through the course. The course took us through a neighborhood and around Byron Nelson High School. The weather was cool and windy in the morning, but it warmed up gradually during the race. After the race, there were a lot of fun activities for children. There was a real-life snow globe and a reindeer petting zoo. Santa Claus was even there!Sports at Recess

Have you ever wondered what people play outside at Nance Elementary? We certainly have! On any day you see kids playing outside in the 4th grade for recess. There are many games being played like football, basketball, soccer and chase. There are lots of people playing these different sports. Of course there are also kids just hanging out or playing on the monkey bars.Today we counted eighteen people playing football. Kids take football serious. Sometimes they even fight about who gets the ball and who doesn't. When kids play football, there are active kids that are catching the ball. Some kids are screaming when their team scores. This is an active sport.
Basketball is the second most popular sport outside. Kids laugh and scream while they play. Today there were 7 people playing basketball.
Soccer is a fun sport too. Usually there are more kids playing soccer, but today there were four people playing. These numbers change daily, but football continues to have the largest group of kids that are playing an organized sport.
Recess is a great time to play with your friends. No matter who you are and what you like to do, recess is always a good time to take a break and just have fun.

On December 12, the PTA and the Watersbend HOA held an event called Breakfast with Santa. Breakfast with Santa is a time when families can enjoy breakfast together, and children can get their picture taken with Santa. This year the breakfast options were chicken biscuit from Chick-Fil-A, breakfast burrito from Sonic, breakfast sandwich from Jack-In-The-Box, and donuts. The beverages available were apple juice, orange juice, milk, and coffee. Children enjoyed having their picture taken after eating breakfast with Santa. There was a list that parents filled out with their children's name and teacher, and that was the way the PTA knows where to deliver the pictures. Breakfast with Santa was a big hit this year. The live orchestra, games, and good food plus Santa made it a lot of fun for everyone who attended.
