Mr. Carver made plastics, paints, dyes, and even a type of gasoline. All with one plant....... the peanut. He also made ground breaking discoveries in plant biology. He also earned the nickname "The Peanut Doctor"

Childhood
George was born into slavery and was known "Carver's George". George was stolen when he was a slave and was going to be sold away when an agent of Carver's found him and bought him back. When he came home he was no longer a slave and, Mrs. Carver (the slave owner's wife) taught him how to read and write.
FUN FACT:
Carver's epitaph reads: "He could have added fortune to fame, but caring for neither, he found happiness and honor in being helpful to the world."
