Mendenhall Senior Reunion

Our Mendenhall Class of 2016 Senior Reunion will be held on Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at 4:30pm in the Mendenhall Library. If you know of any 2009 fifth grade Longhorns please invite them to attend this reception in their honor.

Mendenhall Art Night

Please join us on Friday, May 6th from 5:30pm - 7:00pm for Mendenhall Art Night in the Mendenhall Gym. Have the opportunity to make fun art projects, help an artist with her painting, visit the Plano Symphony instrument "petting zoo", create with the Plano Children's Theater, and sign up for a FREE arts summer camp! We look forward to seeing you on Friday May 6th for this fun event.

Parent Ed: Let's Talk!

Join us in the Mendenhall Library on Tuesday, May 17th from 9:00am - 10:00am for a visit with our counselors regarding communication with our children. See flyer below for additional information. STAAR Testing Dates

Students in the 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades will participate in the STAAR assessments this spring. Your student(s) will be testing on the following dates:


3rd Grade: May 9th and May 10th

4th Grade: May 9th and May 10th

5th Grade Retests: May 9th and May 10th

5th Grade Science: May 11th


Please do your best to ensure your child(ren) are at school on time on the above dates. We encourage all students to get a good night sleep the night before and eat a healthy breakfast the morning of their tests. In addition, no visitors or lunch guests will be allowed in the building during testing dates. Thank you for helping us ensure your child(ren) get the best possible opportunity to display their learning and knowledge on this test.

Spring Portrait Proofs

Spring Portrait Proofs were sent home this week in your child's Wednesday folder. Orders are due back to the school by Wednesday, May 11th. You may also order online using the following steps:


1) Go to www.mylifetouch.com

2) Log in with your Portrait ID and Access Code, which is on your portrait proof sheet.

3) Create your own package with the sizes and quantities you want.

Bond Election 2016 Update

Election Day is this Saturday, May 7. If approved, the bond initiative will provide funding toward eight major project areas with no increase to the tax rate and will impact all Plano ISD campuses through district-wide security updates, renovations and facility upgrades, as well as technology improvements. Memorial/Bowman

Registration is currently underway for the Plano Enrichment Program (PEP I).

PEP I is housed at Memorial Elementary School and Bowman Middle School.


The PEP I program offers a variety of enrichment as well as review courses for Kindergarteners to Fifth Graders in a safe, caring, and fun environment.


We offer something for everyone!

STEM, Art, Acting, Sports– we have it all.

The program dates are June 8- June 30, Monday-Friday.


Tuition is $150 for one two- hour course; $300 for our half-day program consisting of two courses.


PEP I Program hours are 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

We’ll do the driving for you. Free PISD school bus transportation is offered to and from your home school campus to our PEP I summer school site.

Students may be enrolled through the Parent Portal or by completing the attached registration forms.

Plano HS Theatre Camp for Elementary Students

The Plano Senior HS Wildcat Theatre department is offering the third annual summer theatre workshop for elementary students June 6-9, 2016. Students having just completed Grades 2nd through 5th are encouraged to attend. Theatre subjects such as acting, mime, mask making, make-up, improvisation, musical theatre and production will be taught by high school theatre students under the direction of professional theatre personnel Lance Morse and Cassidy McQuiston. Classes will be taught in the Doyle Dean Performing Arts Center on the PSHS campus. This year’s hours have been extended to 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., to better serve parents’ schedules. Plano East Tennis Camp

Plano East is offering two week-long summer tennis camps starting the first week of summer, June 6--10 from 8:00 am to 11:00 am at the East courts. The 2nd camp is August 1--5. It is open to anyone 6-17 years old, and is good for beginners or experienced. We will offer daily prizes and a tee shirt. Plano Providing Free Wi-Fi

The City of Plano has announced that it will provide free public Wi-Fi at city parks and recreation centers, both indoor and outdoor for everyone at no cost to taxpayers. This is a great way for our students and families to access the internet for educational programs and applications. In outdoor locations the free service is called Oh, Ranger! Wi-Fi. At indoor locations, you can gain access to the free service by selecting the TIme Warner Cable hot spot in the Wi-Fi settings on your mobile device.
