From the Principal
Hello Abe Families,
I hope this newsletter finds you well as we embrace the beauty of autumn and the approaching holiday season. As always, I am delighted to share some exciting updates, achievements, and important information with you.
A Month of Gratitude:
November is a time for reflection and gratitude. At Abraham Lincoln, we are thankful for the dedicated students, supportive parents, and our incredible staff who contribute to the vibrant learning environment here. We encourage you to take a moment this month to express gratitude within your families and communities.
Academic Achievements:
Our students have been actively engaged in various academic pursuits. We recently celebrated students who made aggressive growth on the FastBridge test from the fall test in 2022 to the spring test in 2023 (last school year). We commend the hard work and dedication of our students and express gratitude for the collaborative efforts of teachers and parents. In addition, we recently learned that we have earned a five star rating, "Significantly Exceeds Expectations" on our school report card. I am so proud of our students and staff for their outstanding efforts!
Parent-Teacher Conferences:
We had a great turnout for our fall parent-teacher conferences! This was an excellent opportunity for you to discuss your child's progress, address any concerns, and collaborate with our teachers to ensure the success of your child. I appreciate you prioritizing your time to learn more about how your child is progressing in school!
Winter Attire:
Please remember to dress your child(ren) in the appropriate winter attire needed for outdoor play. If there is snow on the ground, students will need boots to be able to go off of the blacktop. Remember that students need gloves and a hat to stay warm with outdoor play lasting around 20 minutes.
Reminders and Important Dates:
- Thanksgiving Break: November 22-24 - School will be closed for the Thanksgiving holiday.
- November 27th - School will be closed for Teacher In-service Day
Thank you for your ongoing support. I value the partnership between the school and our parents, and I look forward to a continued successful academic year.
Wishing you a warm and joyful November!
Sincerely,
Sarah Judd
Abraham Lincoln Elementary School Principal
Breakfast and Lunch Menus
The district has discontinued printed menus due to changes/ supply issues. Please visit the school lunch menu online (link below) or download the app for up-to-date menus.
Cold Weather Recess Reminder
Snow pants, snow boots, and gloves must be worn to play in the snow. Students without boots are limited to the dry areas of the blacktop/near the side of the building when all areas are covered in snow.
Please remember to label coats, hats, gloves, ect.
Recess is outside unless it is raining or there is a negative "feels like" temperature.
(Please label sweatshirts, coat, gloves, hat, etc.)
Abe Math News
Hello families! Abe Lincoln students and staff work hard every day to make big academic gains for students. Recently, we had a chance to celebrate students who grew the most on their math Fastbridge scores last school year. Congratulations to these students. Hard work definitely pays off! We can’t wait to celebrate again soon after our January testing for students who made lots of growth from fall to winter.
I also want to thank you for all you do at home to foster positive math identities in your children. Focusing on the growth rather than their overall achievement is a great way to boost confidence and motivate students to care about their learning. As always, if you have any questions, please reach out to me via email or Class Dojo.

LIBRARY
ABE LIBRARY NEWS
It has been a wonderful start to the year! Students have been checking out books from their library in record fashion. We hope you are getting some of the delectable results from all of the cookbooks that have been flying out of the library. Cookbooks are the number one type of book - besides Graphic Novels - that are being scanned for check out! Love it!
Of course, we continue to emphasize responsible care of the books. Please be extra cautious as winter approaches. Books that become wet start to mold in backpacks and that is never a good thing. New books are coming in slowly but surely. We hope your child finds a couple of new reads this year to set their mind in motion whether it is fiction or nonfiction. We as a library staff appreciate your dedication to continued reading. Finding books that match your liking and readability will set you on a joyful path.
Until next time,
Ms. Newton and Mrs. Blue
Veteran's Day
On November 10, 2023, Abe Lincoln celebrated Veterans and their service to our country by holding an assembly thanking our veterans for their service and wearing red, white, and blue.
Abe Lincoln PTO
The PTO has had a great month! On November 3rd, we held our annual Fall Dance where the gym and cafeteria was full of students and their families dancing, playing games, getting their faces painted, making crafts, and enjoying popcorn and pizza. Thank you to all of the families that participated and the volunteers that made it possible. A special Thank You to the Monroe High School Dance team as they stopped by to help get the party started! We also wrapped up our Calendar Challenge Fundraiser earlier this month. We raised over $9,200 to help enhance the educational experience for Abe students! Thank you for all your generosity and support! Our next meeting is Monday, January 8th at 5:30PM in the Abe Library. We hope to see you there!

Mindful Moment
Happy Fall everyone:) As we move into the month of November, Gratitude is something that everyone starts to reflect on. Take a moment each night with your child/children to write down or share three things you are thankful for from your day. If you write it down, put them in a jar and take time at the end of the month to reread them all and hopefully continue the practice as you see all that there is to be grateful for everyday. Have an amazing November.
Here are some prompts you can use with your child(ren) to think about what to be grateful for during their day:
Who was nice to you today?
What did you enjoy doing today?
Who helped you today?
Who did you help?
What is the best thing that happened today?
What simple thing made today a good day?
What did you learn today?
Who made you smile today? What did they do?
Who made you feel important today?
Who or what made you happy today?
