- Thank you for your help at the Winter Party-the kids had a blast! A special thank you to Mrs. Isaacson for putting it all together!
- Mrs. Fortner's class invited us to computer lab last week to complete The Hour of Code! We had a blast doing Minecraft and Star Wars. https://hourofcode.com/us
- We are in need of large and regular size ziploc bags for the classroom. If you could donate a box, we would really appreciate it. Thanks!
- Have a wonderful Winter Break with your family!
We read may stories including the Gingerbread Man, Elves and the Shoemaker, and Polar Express. We even enjoyed the Polar Express play put on by our fourth graders! We also practiced our reading skills with fluency poems. We did writing activities with our stories and also with the holidays.
*Our reading stories are going to become more difficult next semester. I encourage you to do the Pop Words sheets and Raz-Kids website with your child as much as possible. Students will be tested on both fluency and accuracy on DIbels Next in January.
Your child can work on the Raz-Kids website at anytime for more practice on reading comprehension. If you think your child's level is too easy let me know and I can increase the difficulty. The teacher username is: smitchellav
We made wrapping paper using geometric patterns. We created ads and figured out how much items would cost in our ads. After break, we will work on explorations, animal weights, more than/less than, and comparison number stories.
*Our goal at the end of first grade is to pass Level 5 in chomputation.
Let me know if you would like me to send home flashcards for chomputation. Here is a great link to practice timed facts:
