Walker Career Center weekly update - October 23, 2020

Congressman Andre Carson visits Walker Career Center and Warren Central High School

Thank you to Congressman Andre Carson for taking time to out of his busy schedule to visit Walker Career Center and Warren Central High School this week. During his time at Walker Career Center he was able to visit with our Criminal Justice program to learn about all of the wonderful things happening within our program as well as visit with our Graphic Design program to learn about all of the Social Distancing signs that our printing team has been cranking out for our entire district.

Ed-Pro is utilizing Canvas both in and out of the classroom

Our Education Profession team is continuing to find new ways to utilize the technology that we have available and is currently taking advantage of some of the features within Canvas. Our EdPro students are busy out in classrooms throughout the district and traditionally have to wait in between observations to receive feedback about their instruction. This year, they are able to upload videos of themselves implementing their lesson plans via canvas studio which allows Mrs. Jordan to be able to watch them with the students and they can review and access their goals for the next lesson plans! We are fortunate to have such impressive students working with our Elementary schools throughout the district.

Precision Machining awarded $5,000 from Gene Haas Foundation

Congratulations to our Precision Machining program for being awarded a $5,000 grant from the Gene Haas Foundation. These grants allow WCC to support student scholarships, NIMS Credentials, and help create competitive opportunities for our Precision Machining students.
