Brad Lander is a persistent ally for New York City!
The day immediately following the Election, Brad sent a powerful email message to his constituents which we forwarded to staff and families. See here: http://bradlander.nyc/news/updates/dont-just-mourn-organize
Brad also recently added a new Bengali-speaking staff person to his Kensington office to improve his relationships and allyship in that community: http://patch.com/new-york/windsorterrace/kensingtons-bengali-speakers-can-now-get-local-help-brad-landers-office
Recently, Councilmember Lander and his co-sponsors Councilmember Carlos Menchaca, New York State Assembly-member elect Robert Carroll, D15 Superintendent Anita Skop, and the D15 Community Education Council hosted a meeting to offer information and support for immigrant families in our local schools. The event included speakers from the Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs, the NYC Commission on Human Rights, and legal service providers.
Here is a 2014 NY Times article about Councilmember Lander: https://www.nytimes.com/2014/01/24/nyregion/unassuming-liberal-suddenly-becomes-council-kingmaker.html?_r=0

Councilmember Lander has been a constant ally to Brooklyn Collaborative!
Councilmember Lander has been a constant ally to Brooklyn Collaborative. He visited BCS in 2014 to congratulate Scill on assuming the principalship and tweeted about us!
Councilmember Lander has funded our CASA extracurricular partnerships for the last several years which enabled us to offer high quality dance programs to our students with instructors from the Brooklyn Academy of Music. This year, Brad's office is funding our Groundswell Mural collaboration which begins in Jan 2017 afterschool, where a professional artist will work with 20 students to design a mural for our 4th floor stairwell. We are grateful for Brad's partnership and continuing support.
Brad has consistently advocated for greater diversity and integration in public schools, especially in D15 (where Brooklyn Collaborative is situated). He was part of proposed legislation introduced recently in City Council that frames school segregation as human rights issue. Brooklyn Collaborative is proud to be one of the most diverse schools in D15.
