It's what is on the inside that counts
This really got me thinking about an activity a former principal of mine did. He took a $20 bill and waved it in the air and said, "Who wants this?" Obviously everyone raised their hand. Next he took the 20 and wadded it up and again asked who wanted it? Again everyone wanted the cash. He then threw it on the ground and stomped on it. Next he ripped it into 2 pieces. Still everyone wanted the $20. Next he said, this $20 is still valuable no matter how tattered, dirty, or torn it is.....just like the kids we serve.
Many of our kids have blemishes on the surface, are dirty, tattered, or even torn but below the surface is a valuable person. They are not 1/2 good or even 1/2 bad. They have many strengths and they are waiting for us to just tap into those strengths.
Thank you for seeing so much more in our kids than what is on the surface and investing so much of yourself in them.
