  • Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) is a framework that our district uses to give targeted support to all students to help them be successful both in and out of the classroom. It focuses on the “whole child”, which means that it supports academic growth but many other areas, too. These include behavior, social-emotional skills, and attendance.
  • MTSS organizes our schools through systems and teams, which helps us better understand data to provide the necessary support for each individual.
  • Our supports are organized in a tiered model, which looks like the following:
    • Tier I- High quality instruction that all students receive
    • Tier II- Targeted, small group support for some students
    • Tier III- Intensive, individual interventions for a few students
Visit the MTSS webpage for more information including a Request for Assistance Form and contact information.

NOW is the perfect time to get your FLU shot....

The flu is not just a really bad cold. The flu is a contagious illness that affects the nose, throat, lungs, and other parts of the body. It can spread quickly from one person to another. It can cause mild to severe illness, and at times can lead to death.

Unlike a cold, flu symptoms start suddenly.

Flu symptoms may include:

  • Fever or feeling feverish/chills
  • Cough
  • Sore throat
  • Runny or stuffy nose
  • Muscle or body aches
  • Headache
  • Tiredness
  • Some people have vomiting or diarrhea. This is more common in children.

The flu usually spreads from person to person when someone with the flu coughs or sneezes. Sometimes people get the flu because they touch an object or surface with the flu virus on it -- and then touch their eyes, nose, or mouth.

Everyone 6 months or older should get a flu vaccine every year.

After reviewing our dismissal procedures at the elementary school, we have decided to make some changes to increase the safety for our students. Beginning October 11, 2022, the following procedures will take place at dismissal:

  1. Buses will be lining up in the large loop in front of Richard Mann Elementary. This means if you are picking up your child at dismissal, you will not pull into the large loop.

  2. If you are picking up your child at dismissal, you will pull into the parking lot of the elementary school and park your car to the right side (in front of the playground) of the parking lot. Once you are parked, use the PikMyKid App to indicate you have arrived. Students will be dismissed from the gym doors near the playground area. After indicating you have arrived, walk to the double doors near the gym to pick up your child. Please bring your ID with you. The dismissal doors will be locked until 3pm. Please see the map below for location details.

We anticipate these changes will help streamline the dismissal process while also helping to increase the safety of all of our students during dismissal. Please be patient during the first week as we work through this new process. If you have any questions, please reach out to Mrs. Lumb or Ms. Reeves by calling 315-986-3521 ext. 8-1511.
