Ms. Quick's Class
November 13, 2015
This week in Class...
Writing: This week we did some Thanksgiving writing that the kids really seemed to enjoy! We will continue journal writing next week, working on sounding out words we want to write and writing the sight words we know.
Math: This week we have been working with the terms: greater, more, fewer and less. This has been a bit of a challenge but we will continue to touch on it throughout the next few lessons. We have also been working on counting to 100 as a class. When we reach our goal we get extra choice time. We made it to 99 this week...so close!
Science: We spent this week learning about hibernation and migration. We learned that bears, frogs, and squirrels hibernate. We made a hibernation craft and pretended to be bears waking up after hibernation.

What's Coming up Next Week?
We will be learning about Thanksgiving during our Science time and talking about things we are thankful for!
We will be having a "Thanksgiving Feast" on Wednesday November 25th. We ask that each student bring an ingredient to add to our feast. We are making a GORP (trail mix) with everyone's ingredients. Great Ingredients for this include:
- M&Ms
- Peanuts
- Raisins
- cereal
- pretzels
- chocolate chips
- mini marshmallows
- popcorn
- dried fruit
- Goldfish
If you have any questions, please let me know. You can bring your ingredient in anytime before Wednesday 25th.
Book Orders are coming home Friday. These book orders are due December 4th so we can have the orders back in time for Christmas. If you are ordering as a gift and would like them to remain a secret, please let me know and I will do my best to make that happen!! Remember you can order online using our class code LFRWD!
Please remember November 25th is an Early Release. The students will be let out at 1. Ms. Quick will not be at school that day.
There is no school on November 26th and 27th. Happy Thanksgiving!
Read and Cover CVC Words
As I was searching the internet for a fun way for you to practice a certain skill with your child, I came across these CVC read and cover boards. Basically what your child does is read the word card and cover the picture that matches that word. This helps them with sounding out the CVC words. Everything you need for this will be in a bag and coming home with your child Friday. Let me know how it goes!! Thanks for working with your child on this very fundamental skill!! :)
