It is important to understand the skills you are learning from me this are more than math skills. "Education is not the learning of facts but the training of the mind to think." Albert Einstein
Mrs. Daubert- ELA
We begin our year with a review of parts of plot and storytelling elements as we dive into our short fiction unit. We will learn about the three different types of irony and apply those in context as we analyze some current news headlines. Going into the second marking period, we will be reading and discussing the classic novella Flowers for Algernon by Daniel Keyes and preparing to write a research-based argumentative essay.
Mr. Mosel- Social Studies
Social Studies this year will examine American history, geography, government, and civics. Each student will understand American history from 1861-1920 during the first semester; students will then get an introduction into American government during the second semester. Students will explore the social, economic, military, and political history of the United States during this time period. The course will also examine current events and how the effects of the past are felt in the present.
