Crestview Weekly Update
September 10-September 14
Crestview Mission Statement
The Crestview community facilitates a culture of learning by promoting respect, responsibility, safety and a sense of belonging, resulting in personal and academic success in a changing world.
Crestview Fun Run - Volunteers Needed!
What is it? Fun Run - organized jointly by the Crestview PTSA and Crestview Staff raises money that funds the school directly without going through a fundraising company. This is a brand-new fundraiser for our school, and everyone can participate! Students will be encouraged to gather pledges and be entered into drawings for prizes.
How can parents help? Volunteer opportunities to help before, after and during the event are available. There are also opportunities to donate prizes as well. Contact Nikki Potter, Fun Run co-chair at Nikki.c.potter@gmail.com to be put on the volunteer list or for more information on specific donation needs.
When do we start collecting? Students will be shown a brief video in their classrooms during the week of September 17th and then will receive their pledge packets to be brought home. You’ll have until Tuesday, October 9th to collect and turn in pledges.
How much should each student contribute? Although there is no minimum for pledges, we’re encouraging students and families to have a goal of $60 each to reach our overall goal of $10,000. There will be awesome prizes to be earned to those students who bring in a certain level of monetary contribution. Look for the prize level information in the Fun Run packet.
Why do we need the money? The Crestview PTSA will use some of the money as a gift to each classroom to take a field trip without being funded by families. Any remaining funds will be used for other fun and educational school activities such as family nights, assemblies and special guests, Teacher Appreciation Week and much more!
September Growth Mindset Theme of the Month
Everyone can Learn!
Students need us to teach them that the human brain is like a muscle that can be trained through repetition and practice. When students realize this, they develop a growth mindset: the belief that abilities can be developed through commitment and hard work. And once they have a growth mindset, they can learn anything.
Each month the Crestview Community will focus on a specific Growth Mindset theme. This month the theme is "Everyone can learn!" Each Friday in the Weekly Update, I will share a little information about our monthly theme.
