Art
Art is amazing in many different ways. One is how creative you can get with it, and you can go from a simple dot to a really realistic picture of a forest. The possibilities are endless for creativity. Art is also peaceful. When you paint you feel relaxed. Or when you draw a simple comic you can make it anything and everything.

Lavon Volunteer Fire Department
I think Lavon has the right idea by making a new volunteer fire department and trying hard at keeping the community safe. This fire department is special because it is serving the students of Nesmith. I spoke to the Mayor, Victoria Sanson, and she said, "Money was a big part of this and so was the equipment which you need money for. People and trainers were very important." There was a public party on Saturday the 22nd to celebrate. Mrs. Sanson, thank you for doing everything you can to help us stay safe.

Dress Code
Check out a few of our 5th graders rocking the dress code!
By Viko S and Lauren B
Some people don't like dress code and that reason is you can’t run in the dress code clothes. Also, some people just don't like the way it looks. Like it's not 1987 guys. It’s the future now it’s 2018! Also instead of the dress code, you could wear something that you can run in like joggers or even something that can help you exercise. Also, how are we supposed to finish the pacer test if you can't run in dress code clothes?
Some people do like the dress code though because it helps us express ourselves in other ways than our clothing. Having a dress code is also useful because then we can just grab 2 or more pieces of clothing and not take 5 hours deciding what to wear (like me). The dress code also helps not distract others from their work. If someone wears the dress code they will be easily spotted out of a crowd of random people because we know exactly what they’re wearing.
