Getting rid of Indulgences
In this picture, the church is selling indulgences to people for money. This shows Martin Luther as a saint because he is going against them because the church is lying to the people about what indulgences can do. Luther believes that only god has the power to bring people to heaven, and that no pope has the power or knowledge to free people of their sins and assure them a spot in heaven. This is saving the common people from giving their money to the church for no reason.
The 95 Theses
This is a painting of Luther nailing the 95 Theses to the door of a church to spread the word on everything that the church is doing wrong. This shows Luther as a saint to the common people because he is helping them by arguing against the church. He wants to address the church with the things that they are doing wrong so they can fix it. This is waking the common people up and making them realize that the church is taking advantage of them for their money and they need to do something about it.
Bishops taking advantage of money
This is a picture of some very nicely dressed bishops from the middle ages. This is showing Luther as a saint because the bishops would not use their money on things for the church and for the people, they would use it on themselves. Luther disagreed with what the bishops were doing with their money, and changes were made to how they could use their money. Bishops began to spend less money on themselves and more for what the people wanted, which grew more interest in the church.
The 95 Theses
Luther wrote the 95 theses to address the church with things that they were doing wrong. This is a picture of the 95 Theses document. This shows Luther as a sinner because to the church, he is arguing against their ways and trying to overrule them. They do not like this because it is going to make other people become aware of what the church is doing wrong and spark a revolution. This is going to cause the church to lose a lot of money and power.
Luther is not respecting the power of the church.
This is a picture of the church and all of the people around it showing the amount of power it has over everything else. This shows Luther as a sinner because he is making the church lose power by writing different documents such as the 95 Theses which criticizes their power and makes people question whether they should follow the church or not.
Getting rid of Indulgences
This picture is of an indulgence that the church is selling to the people. This shows Luther as a sinner to the church because he is telling the people that only god has the power to send people to heaven. This makes the church lose money that they were getting from selling indulgences because now people are beginning to side with Luther and stop buying indulgences because they know that they were doing it just for greed.
