Class of 2016 Award Recipients


About the Award

The 'Class of' Awards are given to students and faculty that have significantly impacted the Cornell community. Class Councils recognizes those that are positive roles models to their peers, excel in their activities, and selflessly work to better the Cornell community.

Nina Andrejevic

Nina is a junior majoring in Engineering Physics with a minor in Applied Math. During her time at Cornell so far, she has enjoyed so many new experiences and is particularly fond of being part of Community Center Programs on North Campus, working as a TA in physics, and doing research with an electron microscopy group at Cornell; she also loves playing piano, writing music, and collecting logic puzzles!

Eric Beaudette

Eric is a junior studying Fiber Science in the College of Human Ecology. His concentration is functional apparel, and is a research assistant under Professor Huiju Park, focusing on thermal comfort in clothing.

Nicole Cember

Nicole is in the College of Human Ecology in the Fashion Design Management major. Her goal has always been to impact others for the better whether it be with her club Careers in the Fashion Industry or her day-to-day life and also to encourage others to take advantage of the experiences and opportunities available to them on campus.

Arun Chakravorty

Arun is active in molecular biology research, being the Wet Lab Team Leader of iGEM and an undergraduate researcher in the Angenent Lab. He is a two-time published author and is also the President of Tarana A Cappella.

Emily Decicco

Emily Decicco is a Junior Biology and Society major in the College of Human Ecology, concentrating in Preventive Lifestyle and the Biological Basis of Disease. She is on the executive board of the Cornell Women’s Resource Center.

James Dunlea

James is a Human Development major from Chicago, Illinois. After graduating he hopes to attend medical school and continue to travel the world while doing the work he loves.

Emma Johnston

Emma is a junior in the college of Arts and Sciences from the San Francisco Bay Area studying Government and Natural Resources. She is the founder of the Environmental Collaborative, Cornell's first formal environmental council, an Arts and Sciences Representative on the Student Assembly and the next Executive VP, is working to found an on-campus student-run grocery store to eradicate food insecurity from the Cornell campus, and hopes to devote her future to furthering social end environmental justice through law and policy.

Anna Kastenburg

Anna is in ILR with minors in Inequality Studies and Law and Society. She is also on the Women's Rowing team and a member of Big Red Leadership.

Kristi Krulcik

Kristi is a junior Communication & Information Technologies major who loves taking advantage of as many opportunities as she can during her time at Cornell! She is the Program Director & Re-Launch Manager of, the President of the Communication Student Advisory Board, and the VP of Internal Affairs for Ellevate Network (Cornell chapter of a global professional women's organization).

Kelsey Kruse

The PopShop is Kelsey’s home on the Hill. She is after creative solutions to better energy management and more intelligent mobile interfaces.

Joel Lawson

Joel Lawson is a Junior Chemical Engineer from Miami Beach, Florida who will be joining the Navy as a Nuclear Engineering Surface Warfare Officer upon graduation. He spends his spare time either at his fraternity, Phi Kappa Psi, playing basketball, or helping with classmates extracurriculars including modeling for a designer at the CFC, and consulting for Worthy Jerky and Hip Science.

Michael Raspuzzi Jr.

Michael is a fourth year student in the Bachelors of Architecture program within the college of Architecture, Art, and Planning with a minor in Design Environmental Analysis. On campus, he is President of Life Changing Labs, Co-Founder of Bezzist, Student Manager for AAP IT Solutions, Ecological Design Research Assistant to Professor Jack Elliott, a Cornell Tradition Fellow, active member and leader of Beta Theta Pi, as well as active participant in various philanthropic events and outreaches.

Natalie Rousseau

Natalie Rosseau is a junior in the College of Arts & Sciences, majoring in History and is pursuing a Pre-Medical curriculum. She currently serves as the Student Representative to the Sesquicentennial Steering Committee, Native French Speaker for the Language House, and will serve as a Student Manager for the Campus Tour Guides for the 2015-2016 academic year.

Nicholas Suss

Nick is a pre-medical student studying nutritional sciences in CALS. Two of his passions are traveling and helping others and this past summer and winter break, he had the opportunity to work in a hospital in the Philippines and teach English in India.

Carolyn Sussman

Carolyn Sussman is a Junior majoring in Information Science from New York City. She currently serves as the President of Cornell Hillel and previously served as the President of Sigma Delta Tau.
