For Your Information & Action
10th Grade Math MCAS May 21-22: 10th Grade Math MCAS is May 21-22. Senior STUC is planning an activities fair for the afternoon of May 21--see above for times for each grade to visit the activities fair. Please note that the whole school has a different schedule on these two days (like 10th grade ELA MCAS back in March). All schedules and groups are in the shared folder.
- 10th Grade Math MCAS Groups
- May 21-22 Teacher Schedules (EVERYONE should check these schedules to look for room changes, class coverage, etc.)
- Bell Schedules
- School-Wide Logistics (scroll down for info on each grade)
- Rooms & Student Numbers
Early Dismissals for Athletics: Please let students out of class for athletics early dismissals at the exact time stated on the advisory agenda. Students should not be let out early from class at the end of the day for practice or a competition if it is not listed as an early dismissal.
Senior Grades: All steps are very important to ensure grade accuracy.
- Double check your final grade setups for E2 & F1 (very important) and that the final average is calculating properly.
- Grades and PowerTeacher online verification are due on Tuesday June 4 at 2:00pm--no later.
- Q4 assignments Must be dated no later than May 24th.
- Exam Grades (E2) need to be dated June 17 ONLY. This will allow the exam grade to show separately on the report card.
- Comments need to be recorded in the F1 column.
- If a student will be receiving an incomplete, make sure the term (Q4, E2, F1) is marked Inc. Otherwise, the student may receive credit for an incomplete course.
- If you have a student that has dropped from your class but remains on your roster-please see Guidance to drop the student. (If not removed this will cause a student to receive credit for a class they did not complete)
Evaluations: Admin will send evaluations to all teachers by the end of the day on June 5. After you receive your evaluation, if you would like to meet to discuss your evaluation and/or provide additional evidence, please schedule a meeting with your evaluator between June 6 and June 19.
Senior Obligations: If seniors owe you money, textbooks, or any materials, please send the list of items and the cost replacement to Alesia by Thursday, May 23. Seniors will not get their graduation tickets if they do not have all dues paid and books returned, so it is important to know by this date.
NEASC Visits: if you are interested in volunteering for one, please see the following information: The invitation process for fall Decennial visiting team members is about to begin with 31 school visits scheduled. This will be last season using the 2011 Standards and protocol, which is the same process that your school used for its visit in the last few years. I am asking for your assistance in helping fill these visiting teams by sharing the dates and locations listed below with your staff and hope that at least one administrator or teacher from your school will volunteer for one of these visits.

Sept. 29-Oct. 2 in CT, MA, NH
Oct. 6-9 in CT, MA
Oct. 20-23 in CT, MA, NH, VT

Please send the names of the volunteers, their teaching certification area, and the dates that work with their schedules to Melissa Spinosa, Team Coordinator, at mspinosa@neasc.org. Melissa can be reached at 781-425-7729 if you have any questions or would like additional information.
From the Nurses' Office: Please refer to the attached link in regards to the CDC's adult recommendations for measles vaccines. https://www.cdc.gov/measles/about/faqs.html
Senior Send-Off: In following tradition, the last day of classes for seniors will be their senior sendoff in the student parking lot on Friday, May 24th. All seniors are invited to attend the event which will take place during the school day from 8:45-2: 15 pm. Seniors can go to necessary classes and complete any assessment or assignment and still return to the event. This will be chaperoned by the class advisors and the school resource officers. This is a school-sponsored event and has been approved by the administration. Students are aware they must comply with the rules and expectations in the Student and Family Handbook.
Therapy Dog: We are in the process of piloting the use of a therapy dog here at HRHS. You might have seen Jan with his dog, Seamus, in the building today. He already seems to have had some positive effects but we want to be deliberate about this. We will use a few trial days over the last few weeks to develop protocols and practices that will maximize the benefits and minimize any concerns as we consider his presence here for next year. There is a lot of evidence regarding beneficial effects and more and more schools are making use of this resource. Your feedback is welcome and you are certainly always welcome to take advantage of a little canine support when needed. He'll typically be in Jan's office/Guidance or the TIP classroom with Glenda.

Staff Shout Outs!
- Thank you to Judy Thrasher, Liz Sormanti, Katelyn Hanlon, Rachel Sylvester, and Patti Richmond for proctoring AP and staying late for many of the afternoon exams this past week.
Responsibility and Perseverance:
- Thank you to all of the 8th grade teachers who proctored Science MCAS this past week! This round was incredibly smooth, especially considering we did both science sessions on one day! Thanks for your flexibility.
- Thank you to all hall monitors for your diligence during the past few rounds of MCAS. The proctors and students have been very appreciative of how easy it has been to get a bathroom escort or coverage for breaks.
Collaboration and Engagement:
- Thank you to Terry Barut, Trisha Keane, Kim Hallett and Lindsay Sojkowski for helping to chaperone Team Greylock's field trip to NYC! We couldn't have done it without you!
