Meet Christine Riester
She has been married to her husband, Phil, for over 20 years. She has a 19 year old son that is studying mechanical engineering at USC. She loves animals. When she was in high school, she rode horses, and competed in barrel racing. Now, she and her husband have a Corgi, named Carly. She is originally from Massachusetts, but has lived in Florida, Georgia, Arkansas, and now South Carolina.
Welcome her to our school family!
CUSTOMER SERVICE WEEK
I just wanted to take a moment to Thank You for the exemplary customer service you provide daily to the students, parents, and community stakeholders of the district. The expectation for excellence in customer service is a large part of why Pontiac has a reputation in our community that is one of family.
While an education can be received by way of homeschooling, virtual schools, charter schools and private schools, the quality of the education and the quality relationship building that is evident here is not the case everywhere and it does make a difference.
There is a quote that says "Customers may forget what you said but they'll never forget how you made them feel." Thank you for making all of our customers feel like they are important and a valued part of our community by always employing our Two for You Standards:
1. We pledge to show our diverse customers dignity, respect, and professionalism.
2. We pledge to listen to our customers, identify their individual needs, and provide accurate, timely responses.
3. We pledge to provide facilities and equipment that are accessible, safe, and inviting.
4. We pledge to work continually to improve our customer service performance.
Thank You for always providing customer service with a smile!

Don't forget to encourage your students to put change in the dunk tank change challenge jars! Only a few more days left for this challenge!
The Dunk Tank Change Challenge jars are on the stage. Teachers, could you please let your students know that they may bring change to place in the jar of the teacher (s) they are voting for to be dunked at Fall Fest? The SIX teachers who raise the most money by Thursday, will be scheduled for the dunk tank at Fall Fest. Students may place their money in the jars (with teacher permission) during breakfast and lunch. Please refrain from sending students at other times during the day, as there will be nobody in the cafeteria to supervise.
Here are the lucky teachers and their jar numbers:
1 - Mrs. Avant
2 - Dr. Barber
3 - Mrs. Cook

FOSS KIT TRAINING: For new staff and those that are eager for a refresher:
Ed Emmer will:
model how to use the teacher’s guide, some online activities
do an investigation from the kit. This will be done as a model.
Help teachers know that the FOSS kit manual will help those who may not be really great with teaching science. The manual lays everything out
At the end of time, he hopes to make sure they are familiar with what an investigations looks like. Modeling the leading up and the following. He wants to get the teachers to see that this is something they can do, easily.
He wants to teachers to know that the kit is built for the teacher without a solid background in teaching science.
He will show each teacher the layout of each GL kit and how it fits on our curriculum map.
Ed will make all the copies that we will need.
Ed will set up over here after Key Leaders.
Provide a code for the FOSS Kits web accounts
Pontiac will:
Provide one of our 3rd Grade Energy and Electromagnetism kits in tact for Ed to use. Just need one set.(two boxes)
A location for the training
Firm numbers of who will attend (Katie can you place it in the Barber bulletin for those who may need a refresher?)
Teachers will:
A least a notebook and pencil or pen to take notes
Act as the students.
A device can be used, but not required. May get an opportunity to set up their FOSS web accounts.
REMINDERS FOR US ALL..............
- Classroom doors must be locked at all times.
- Staff that have emergency bags should carry this when supervising students outside the room.
- JEANS are reserved for Friday Spirit Days.
- Agendas should be displayed in every classroom.
- Social Committee Dues were due last week! Thank you to those that already paid!
- Walk for Life is SATURDAY!
- CERTIFIED STAFF - You must see Nurse Larck to finalize STOP THE BLEED training.
- It's not too late to donate to UNITED WAY! Let's synergize to meet our goal! The district hopes to see 100% of all school staffs participating!
Pontiac is still eager to post additional student job roles:
If you are not sponsoring a student job, please consider sponsoring the SCHOOL STORE!
The school store is already fully stocked. We just need an adult to take the lead and sponsor students! Typically, the school store has hired (2) customer service students (1) student cashier and (1) marketing students. Please let the student action team know if you are interested and they can help you post the positions and advertise!
