- December 10th - Winter Concert @BJHS Auditorium - 6:00 PM

Symphonic Band only:
Students will wear red, white and/or blue - "Sunday best" dressy clothes. Please no jeans, no tennis shoes and no sweatpants. Students may want to bring a change of clothes for after the recording session.
Symphonic Band students will report to the band room FIRST THING Monday morning. Teachers have already been informed.
Students are responsible for making up missed work from first and second period (Sym students will setup for the performance).
We will make this video recording of our DMS Veterans Day "assembly" available to parents as soon as possible.
No parents are allowed to attend the video recording session during school - apologies!

Orlando Trip Meeting - Monday, November 8th
We have decided to host a meeting on Monday evening in order to make sure everyone gets the information they need to consider travelling to Orlando with us. We know there have been a lot of changes with this trip and, although we are very VERY excited, we don't want anyone to be overwhelmed by all the emails.

2022 Orlando Trip - Info Meeting

This meeting is for anyone interested in the trip. Attending this meeting does not register you or your student for the trip. We want to answer any questions you may have.
We are also happy to answer questions those of you who have already registered online may have about trip specifics, etc. Thank you to those of you who have already registered online!
In conclusion: If you've registerd, definitely come. If you don't know but might want to come, see you there also!
What should my percussionist have?

- CONCERT Snare Drumsticks - Recommended Drumsticks on chart below
- Yarn Mallets (Medium) - Recommended Mallets on chart below
- Bell Mallets - These could be from your beginner percussion kit - Recommended mallets on chart below
Other Items (optional, but recommended):
- Timpani Mallets
- Different strength yarn mallets (large/soft for low marimba or vibe mallets)
- Marching Snare Sticks
- Black towel
- Drum Key
- Pitch Pipe (for timpani)

Tuba Christmas -
"It's almost time for the 23rd ROCKET CITY TUBACHRISTMAS. All tuba, euphonium, and baritone players are invited to join in the fun. We will be performing on Sunday, December 5, 2021. Registration is $10.00. If you need a book we will have some available to purchase. I believe the regular is $22.00 and the large print is $27.00, but don't quote me on those prices. Plus, all of those great TUBACHRISTMAS stocking stuffers such as hats, scarves, recordings, etc. will be available.

- CONCERT LOCATION: Covenant Presbyterian Church

- REGISTRATION: 12:30 p.m. - Covenant Presbyterian Church

- CONCERT TIME: 3:30 p.m.
- PARKING: Plenty of parking at the church
- OTHER INFO: Please bring your own music stand. Also, feel free to decorate your instrument and be sure to dress festively.

Middle School All State Band Auditions

All State Sign-up Form Due December 10th
This year, we will be paying for the students who sign-up to audition, so all you have to do is read over the guidelines below, follow the directions, and sign up!
Please encourage your students to take advantage of this awesome chance to grow their audition experience (it will be the first of many!).

Jazz Band

Interest Meeting - Thursday, November 18th
Mrs. Rhoades will be hosting the first Jazz Band meeting/rehearsal on November 18th in the band room after school until 5:00.
Please make sure you and your student can commit to Thursday afternoons until 5:00pm. We will meet November 18th for the preliminary interest meeting, then rehearsing on December 2nd, 9th, and 16th. We will resume after holiday break weekly, beginning on January 6th.
