RECESS MONITORING
Please make sure that teachers are spread out and actively monitoring during recess. Please review recess expectations with your students this week. The weather forecast looks like we will be needing indoor recess plans at the beginning of this week.

Do you have ideas about a book study?
Counselor’s Cubby
GenTX Decision Day is May 5 and I am looking for some creative ideas for getting our students excited about their plans for a future career! I will be coming to your classes the next two weeks with an activity but I would also like to have a college spirit activity for Friday, May 5. Let me know if you have any ideas. I know we have had door decorating contests and poster contests…..but any new ideas out there?? Just let me know!!

New Kids on the Block
(No, not the band!)
We have had quite a few new students since Christmas break and I wanted to share with you that parents have commented to me that they are so pleased with our school. Their students have made a smooth transition and are excited about their new friends and teachers! I see them around campus and they tell me the same thing. I have also noticed that you are really good about making sure they have a group of buddies to support them as they get used to a new schedule and a new campus. However, I also know that some of our new friends have brought challenges with them! Please let me know how I can help. I was in four different schools during my elementary years so I can really relate to the frustrations these students may be experiencing. Thank you for your patience and diligence in making sure they feel welcomed at LVIS! My 4th grade teacher, Mrs. Spellman, was one of my favorites! Even though she said I needed to be better about focusing on the task at hand! Mmm, I still struggle with that!!
