Panther Families,
We had a great Start with Hello week here at Anaheim Hills! It was awesome to see students meeting new people, and practicing kindness and inclusivity throughout the week.
I wanted to say congratulations and thank you to your AHES community! If you haven't heard, Anaheims Hills Elementary was named a 2021 National Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education this week. You can find out more about it below in the newsletter. We look forward to celebrating this prestigious award with our Panther students and staff in the upcoming weeks.
Also, I wanted to share that our school is slated to receive Hepa Air Filter Purifiers the week of October 4th for our classrooms and common spaces. These filters are being purchased and provided by our district office.
Please see below for this week's updates. Have a great weekend!
Best,
Mrs. Van Wilgen Moore
Principal

School Site Council First Meeting - September 27th
The SSC is required for schools receiving categorical funds. These funds are used to supplement the regular school program. The purpose of the SSC is to develop and approve the Single Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA); which is a comprehensive plan designed to improve the effectiveness of the school program. In order to accomplish this task, the SSC meets a minimum of four times a year to assess student needs, develop and approve the SPSA including categorical budgets, and monitor its implementation.
Our first SCC meeting is on September 27th at 2:40 PM virtually. Here is the agenda and the virtual link is here:

Reflections - I Will Change the World By
The search for fabulous Panther Artists is underway! REFLECTIONS, a nationally sponsored PTA Arts competition wants to see your talent in Literature, Dance, Visual Arts, Film, and/or Photography.
The submission Deadline for our students is October 20. You can submit as many art pieces as you like! Make sure you relate your art to the theme this year, which is “I will change the world by…”
There will be prizes for all entries and awards given to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners! All art submitted will be judged by local experts in that category. For our Panthers that win first place, your art will represent our school, competing with other wonders in our district!
The main PTA page that includes the entry form and detailed descriptions for each category are listed here:

COVID-19 STUDENT TESTING
The District is pleased to begin offering all students COVID-19 testing 2 times a week to all interested. All students are strongly encouraged to participate in the District COVID-19 testing program. This type of surveillance testing program is recommended by the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) to mitigate spread of COVID-19 in the school community. The OUSD COVID-19 Testing Program is intended to continue maximizing the good health and safety of our school community.
Testing is typically Monday and Thursday. Additional information can be found on the attached flyer below. Register your student HERE
COVID-19 Relief Funding Survey
We are currently requesting our community, students, staff and families, to provide input on how you would like to see additional COVID relief funding and additional Local Control and Accountability Plan funding that we are receiving this year only. We have already received input from this survey to consider: shade structures, HEPA portable filters, additional staff to reduce student to staff ratios, athletic facility upgrades, summer school for elementary, bottle filling stations, instructional software subscriptions, counselors, and tutoring. So please take a moment and let us know your thoughts!
