Summit Elementary
January 2019
Hello parents, students, and community members:
Summit Elementary School and Jerome School District are excited to announce the beginning of a Parent Enrichment and Support Series, beginning on January 14, 2019. This event will take place at Summit, once monthly, on the second Monday. It will typically consist of discussions pertaining to student need and/or achievement, and how parents can support them, along with resources available at the school or in the community.
Presenters will range from experts in the school district to Health and Welfare's children services, community mental health agencies and knowledgeable parents or community members. Topics will include issues such as trauma, self-harm, impacts of mental health issues on learning etc., based in part on the requests of parents.
Childcare will be provided for attendees and translation services available.
The sessions will be 60 minutes in length with 2-3 topic options at each gathering. To begin with in January, we will plan on a 1 hour single session format, 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm, though attendance may support extending that to a 2 hour, 2 session format depending on participation.
Our hopes are to interweave school, community and family resources to effectively educate, enrich, and support our children, in a caring collaborative effort. Please join us in this exciting endeavor. Feel free to contact Mr. Parker, Summit Counselor, with questions.

Quarter Store was a Huge Hit
Thank you families for your donations and/or time to our Quarter Store. The students enjoyed spending their quarters buying gifts for family members. We could not have done it without all of the wonderful items that were donated.
Math Rocks
Parents, did you know your student has a chance to demonstrate their comprehension of multiplication facts every Thursday morning? Knowing their multiplication facts will help our students better understand many of the math concepts they will study in the 4th and 5th grade. Our students need to know their facts from 0 X 0 to 12 x 12, and if they learn them, then they have a chance to win prizes!
Food Drive was Successful
The Summit Elementary Team donated 918 items totaling 737.2 pounds to the Martha and Mary’s Food Pantry, and the District Food Pantry.
