Yearbook cover contest
Students can submit artwork for a chance to be this year’s yearbook cover artist! All submissions should depict our theme of “Blended Together” and have something to do with school unity. The year 2019/2020 should also be somewhere in the artwork. Artwork must be completed on standard 9 ½ x 11 white paper and must be in portrait format. Students should write their name and classroom teacher in pencil on the back of their artwork. More details are on the flyer that came home with your student this week and this is also available on our Facebook page and in the online backpack. Deadline for submissions: Monday, November 25th 2019.
Glen Ellyn Junior Woman's Club Toy Drive
Glen Ellyn Junior Woman’s Club is once again preparing for our annual Christmas Family Sponsorship Program. Last year, the Christmas Family Sponsorship Program, provided food, clothing, toiletries, and gifts to nearly 130 needy families and seniors within the Glen Ellyn community. If you would like to participate, please donate a new, unwrapped toy for a child (male, female or non-gender specific) between the ages of birth through 12 years. Books, crafts, gift cards, and other tween-appropriate items suited for older children (9 through 12) are especially needed. Please drop your donation in the collection box located in the hallway of your school. We will be collecting toys through Wednesday, December 4th. Don’t have time to shop but want to support the Christmas Family Sponsorship Program? We will gladly accept gift cards and do the toy shopping for you.

Winter Weather
Winter weather has arrived and there are multiple places to check for information about weather-related school closings. Information about closings will be released through a phone message, as well as the district’s website (http://www.ccsd89.org), Facebook page (facebook.com/CCSD89), and Twitter account (@CCSD89).
The district’s messaging system uses phone numbers and email addresses supplied by guardians during registration. If your number or email has changed, it is important you contact the school secretary and update your records.
The district makes every effort to make a decision on school closings by 5:30 a.m. Even when school is open, students should dress for winter conditions. Students will continue to go outside for recess as long as the weather remains above 10 degrees. More info: http://bit.ly/2X6iMZP
