Mindshine!
Dear Staff,
As a gift to you to express our sincere appreciation for all you do for our schools and your students, we have partnered with a group working to refine the development of an application called Mindshine that offers self-care coaching. The group that developed the app is offering every staff member in our district a year of premium access ($69), as a small gesture of their appreciation for us as educators! :) In addition, at our book study meetings this week, Dr. Marsha Chinichian will be joining us via Zoom call to discuss teacher burnout, self-care strategies, and stress management. If you have not yet attended a book study session with Mr. Gold, please consider joining us this week! (Even if you don’t have the book and haven’t read it yet, all are welcome!)
If you are unable to attend, please at least take advantage of this wonderful opportunity by following the steps below.
Before our book study this week please do the following:
1) Please download the app Mindshine - Self Care Coaching
from AppStore or GooglePlayStore.
2) Select an initial personal development goal - you can change this at anytime
3) Register your account with your work email*
*Free Premium access is offered if you sign-up with your work email - Big Hollow address only.

Please read below to learn a little more about Dr. Marsha Chinichian:
Dr. Chinichian is a science advisor of Mindshine, is passionate for creating scalable programs that promote personal and professional growth. Dr. Chinichian is an adjunct professor at Pepperdine University in Los Angeles, CA., Graduate School of Psychology & Education, conducts neurodevelopmental assessments, provides psychotherapy to clients, non-profit clinical advisory, and is an organizational consultant. Dr. Chinichian’s passion for clinical psychology work was reignited in the place she least expected – a US corporate banking start-up. Although the startup experience was gratifying, it also led to taking on positions of leadership that removed her from direct client work that she both craved and enjoyed. After 9 years in the finance arena, she made a career change to clinical psychology to reflect the altruistic values she was raised with and ultimately combine psychology with her business background.
See you this week!

Acknowledge inappropriate behavior every time. This doesn't mean that everything has to be written up as a minor or a major, but inappropriate behavior cannot be ignored!

PD during prep time
If you are given the opportunity for prep time make-up, it's completely ok to switch up your lesson plans and allow your students time on Lexia or Dreambox or MyOn. I know that Jen works really hard to give as much notice as possible, but sometimes there just isn't much advance notice. Let me know if you have any questions.
