Staff Spotlight!

This week we are giving a round of applause to our Literacy Support Teachers, Mrs. O'Shea and Mrs. Crawford! These two really go above and beyond for our students. They both pull small groups of students to work on any and every literacy skill (Reading, writing, letter recognition, etc.) and are constantly thinking of new and engaging ways to make learning fun! Both Mrs. O'Shea and Mrs. Crawford often also co-teach in any classroom. Mrs. O'Shea also pulls 1st grade students one on one for Reading Recovery. To say these two are busy is an understatement! But you will never see either of them without a smile on their face. Their love for their students and work is evident by their upbeat lessons and just overall positive attitudes! Both Mrs. O'Shea and Mrs. Crawford are always quick to add a group into their free time, just to ensure all students' needs are being met. Not only are they constantly going above and beyond for our students, but they are also continuously supporting our teachers. They can be found in and out of classrooms answering questions, explaining strategies, and just simply helping any teacher that may need it. Kolmar is a such a fun, positive place and we definitely have these two to thank for a lot of that! Thanks for everything you do, Literacy Support Teachers!

Classroom Happenings!

This week we are highlighting Mrs. Gallagher's classroom! These scholars have a lot going on!

In math, they are working on building their number sense by sequencing numbers and counting forwards and backwards. They are working through various word problem types during problem solving and are practicing using different strategies to solve.

Mrs. Gallagher’s students have made great improvements in their ability to blend and segment sounds and write letters and words during their daily Fundations practice! They are practicing retelling stories and asking and answering questions about texts they read as well. For Social Studies they made these AWESOME suitcases for their Holidays Around the World unit. The suitcases are quickly filling up as they "travel" to new places and learn about holiday celebrations in other countries! Keep up the awesome work you guys!

PTA Meeting Tonight!

There is a PTA meeting tonight, December 7th. We will meet at 7:00pm in the staff lounge! Hope to see you there!

Winter Traffic

During the winter months, we experience increased traffic and congestion around the school. Please remember to allow extra time for traffic in the morning and after school. Also, please be courteous of our Kolmar neighbors. Even though you may only be there for a short time, please avoid blocking driveways before and after school.

Outdoor Recess

Our students love being able to run and play outside during recess. Now that the weather is turning colder, please make sure your child is bundled up for the weather.

Winter Concert

Kolmar's Kindergarteners, First Graders, and School Choir grade will perform on Thursday, December 16th at 2:00 pm. The concert will be held in the gym and doors will open at 1:45 p.m. Family members should enter through door 5 near the gym. In order to ensure adequate spacing, we ask that only two family members attend per performer. Additionally, please remember that face masks are required when inside the school.

Lost and Found

Our lost and found is overflowing. If your child is missing an item, please have them take a look to see if it has been turned in.
