Stony Point Solar Car Club
Congressman Carter named Champion of the Year by Career & Technical Association of Texas-Area 4
He was awarded this for his contribution to the improvement, promotion, development and progress of Career & Technical Education (CTE). Round Rock ISD nominated Congressman Carter based on his dedication to CTE and bridging the workforce gap between the community and employers.

A little bit about Congressman Carter........
Since his first election in 2002, Congressman Carter has established himself as a leader in Congress who has the foresight and courage to author and support numerous pieces of legislation. Congressman Carter is one of the few House Members who has authored legislation signed into law under both Presidents Bush and Obama. In spite of now being a veteran Congressman, John Carter is still known as "Judge" for having served over 20 years on the district court bench in Williamson County, which he won as the first county-wide elected Republican in Williamson County history. Before becoming a Judge, Congressman Carter had a successful private law practice and continued to practice law while serving as the Municipal Judge in Round Rock.

TIGER SPOTLIGHT
Mrs. Amy Dieta
How long have you been teaching: This is my 10th year - 7th at STP!
What do you love about teaching:
I love that I have the amazing opportunity to share my passion and excitement for the Agriculture Industry on a daily basis. Being born and raised on a cattle ranch, I feel fortunate to have lived quite a bit of what we discuss in class. I love being able to share stories about my experiences with my kids. For me it’s not something I learned in a textbook. This is my life. I want that for my kids, and I challenge myself to provide a more real world experience in class. In addition, the fact that our FFA program offers our students the opportunity to raise livestock animals, on campus, in the middle of Round Rock, is mind blowing when you really think about it. Our kids are highly competitive against other students from rural areas, who have access to their animals 24/7. I love that we offer our students so many different opportunities to be involved in the Agriculture Industry. There is something here for everyone. We are building leaders, and we get to share our love of Agriculture at the same time. As soon as you set foot on our campus, from that point on you’re “my kid”. I will respect you, and I will treat you as my son or daughter. I love learning about them - who they are, where they’re from, their goals, and ambitions. They make me laugh and definitely keep me young. Most importantly, I continue to learn from them. Some days I think I learn more from them than they do from me. They challenge me to be a better educator, parent, and member of the Agriculture Industry. I love seeing the look on their faces as they learn something new, ask questions and participate in class discussions, or discover their passion which leads to their college/career choices. They are the reason any of us are here. What are your hobbies: I love spending time with my family and friends, reading, coffee, Pinterest, shopping, fashion, makeup, baking/cooking, my silhouette machine, working/showing cattle, riding horses, running/working out, and watching College Gameday on Saturday mornings!
Learning at the POINT is always exciting!

PARENTS, BE IN THE "KNOW"!
Would you like to serve on Stony Point's Site Committee?
It's that time of year again! If you would like to serve on our Site Based Committee, please email Mrs. Gamboa at Michelle_Gamboa@roundrockisd.org.
The purpose of the Stony Point High School Site Based Advisory Committee is to ensure coordination off site needs, measure and report progress, and facilitate special interest committees for student achievement and campus enrichment. According to the Texas Education Code, each campus must have a planning and decision making committee.
The committee serves exclusively in an advisory role except that each committee shall approve campus staff development. In Round Rock ISD, these committees are called site-based advisory committees.
The site-based advisory committee focuses discussions on topics in the following areas: planning, budgeting, curriculum, staffing patterns, staff development, school organization and other topics as suggested by the principal.
RRISD School Board Policy outlines the role of the site-based committee:
-Implement planning processes and site-based decision-making in accordance with Board policy.
-Serve in an advisory role.
-Approve staff development of a campus nature.
-Obtain broad-based community, parent and staff input, and provide information to those patrons on a systematic basis.
We will have a total of 3 meetings all year. Meetings run about 30 minutes to an hour long and will be in the Stony Point Lecture Hall. The meetings are scheduled for:
October 3rd 4:30pm SPHS Lecture Hall
January 9 4:30pm SPHS Lecture Hall
April 24 4:30pm SPHS Lecture Hall
Thank you.
