OES HOME-SCHOOL CONNECTION
A Resourse For Our Families
Dear Families,
What a unique and crazy time we are in. We recognize how incredibly difficult this situation is for many families. Our family here at Osceola Elementary has been working hard to identify meaningful instructional activities for your child to do while he or she is at home for an extended period of time. Our goal in this work is to provide you with enrichment and practice activities (not NEW learning material), recognizing it will not be the same as being in the classroom, but everything should be familiar.
This newsletter page will serve as our "Landing Site." This page will be used as a place where you can access all the instructional activities. We will be updating the links in this Landing Site as needed. Classroom teachers will be sending out a reminder with the link to the Landing Site.
On the Landing Site, you will find "Buttons" to your child's grade level and then to links with the instructional activities. We worked to write the directions in "kid-friendly" language so children can be relatively independent as they work through the activities.
We certainly know there is a lot going on for families right now and recognize you may not be able to complete all of the activities given....that is completely fine! Our intention is just to provide you with learning resources to keep your children actively engaged and prevent regression while they are not coming to school.
If your child experiences any frustration, please feel free to have them discontinue the activity or make adjustments to it. For some of the reading components, links have been given so your child can listen to the text if he or she needs this extra support.
If your child receives additional services, such as, speech therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, there are links provided on the Landing Page where you can access information about how to keep your child engaged in activities that will support their development in these areas.
To support you in this time, you will also find links with resources to help you talk to your child about COVID-19 and to help ease their fears. You will also find a video tutorial about how to access web-based resources through our district database, Class Link.
We appreciate your partnership as we navigate this unknown territory together. Please feel free to reach out to any of our staff members through e-mail if you have any questions or concerns along the way. You are also welcome to leave a phone message at the elementary 646-8333.
With Great Appreciation,
Sincerely,
Dr. Chris McClimans
