Mrs. Lingeman's students take their role as the 'Star Writer' very seriously when adding as many details as possible to their writing. Pictured above is Chloe who recently shared her creative writing assignment about what would be like to be a fairy.

NEWS YOU CAN USE...

1. LD/MD Faculty Meeting - Tuesday, April 19

Please know that LD and MD faculty and staff will meet on April 19 with Carolyn Lausch in the Fortune Room to continue discussion focusing literacy and Language Arts.


2. Apple Pin Recipients - Monday, April 18

The eighth unveiling of Grades 1-4 Apple Pin honors will take place after chapel service on April 18. Therefore, please be sure to identify a student in your class who exhibits exemplary academic, civic and/or emotional performance in the classroom. Please print off and share your certificate to me by 6:00pm on Sunday, April 17. CLICK HERE to download the Apple Pin certificate.


3. 2016-2017 Planning Input Survey - Please Complete by Monday, April 18

As we head into the several weeks of school, I am eager to glean all EC/LD faculty and staff input for next school year. :) Please CLICK HERE to offer your thoughts and ideas regarding scheduling, professional development, and more. :)


4. Midterm Grades and Comments Schedule

* Last Day to Take Grades for Midterm - Fri., April 15

* Submit Midterm Comments via Backpack - Wed., April 20

* KC to Return Suggestions/Corrections to Teachers - Thurs., April 21

* Teachers Enter Final Comments/Updates into Backpack - Thurs., April 21


5. ERB Testing Schedules

CLICK HERE for the tentative testing schedule. Thank you to all teachers who have volunteered to swap schedules with Grade 4 (8:53am-9:33am and 9:36am-10:16am) and Grade 3 (10:19am-10:59am and 11:02am-11:42am) during the week of May 2-6.


6. Gift of Time - May 6

The next Gift of Time is Friday, May 6 between 11:00am and 1:00pm. The PO luncheon will take place at 12:00pm in the Fortune Room.


7. Orton-Gillingham Training - July 11-15

Kristi Harris has a few vacancies in her Orton-Gillingham training this summer. I heard from last year's participants that the training is excellent! If you are interested, please take CLICK HERE for the informational brochure and contact Kristi directly. Please know that SRES will fund your training using Federal/State grant monies allotted by IPS. Please contact Kristi soon as her class is filling up quickly. :)


8. School Garden Update from Mrs. King

Due to the recent building demolitions and the eagle scout project to move the gardening area to the green space near the chicken coop, soil samples have been collected and sent for lead testing. This is a routine measure to determine if the current raised bed is at an acceptable level for student and teacher use. It is typical for urban soil to have some level of lead. We hope to have the results in a few weeks.
