Brookside School 2018-2019
September Lighthouse Log
Welcome Back to School!
A Note from the Principal
After a great start to the 2018-2019 year I can finally say that we have found our rhythm. Setting expectations and teaching routines is especially critical for the start of the year. The same can be said for this time of year at home, getting students to sleep early, checking their folders, cleaning lunch boxes, and completing homework are all routines that have to be re-established after the summer months. Fall brings the tranquility of established routines. I refer to it as the honeymoon stage, the jitters of new friendships are settled, and now we can simply enjoy learning.
Who can resist the smells of fall? Spiced lattes, warm cider, whatever is cooking in the oven, and of course all things pumpkin! Equally beautiful are your children in hoodies under tiny umbrellas! I love all seasons, but this is my favorite. Fall is synonymous with the start of school, the wonder of a new academic year, and the promise of opportunity.
I invite you to celebrate the successful start of the year and completion of our first full month with your child. It is a lot of work getting back into the swing of things and your children have surpassed our expectations, Brookside is back in business.
