BLOOMINGDALE NEWS
December 2019
FROM THE PRINCIPAL'S DESK
Greetings Bloomingdale Families,
It’s hard to believe that another month has come and gone already and that the Holidays are upon us. I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving break, and as I look back on the past month I have so much to be thankful for. We had a fantastic Halloween Celebration and honored our veterans with a Veteran’s Day Celebration. We practiced and learned new character traits and celebrated our students with our monthly PBIS assembly. We held an awards breakfast to recognize outstanding student accomplishments and we had our first day to play in the snow. Looking ahead, we have our holiday concerts on Wednesday, December 4th at 10:00 a.m. and again at 6:30 p.m. The evening concert was a big hit last year, but it does create some logistical issues and limited seating. We ask that grandparents and extended family members try to attend the morning concert if possible. For the evening concert, teachers will be supervising students in their classrooms while the students are not performing, so that there will be more room in the gym for families to watch their children perform. Please do not drop off students in their classrooms before 6:00. We ask that you sign your children out of their teacher’s classroom after their portion of the program is done to help with this part of the logistics. Also, if you are willing, we would appreciate any parent volunteers who are interested in helping supervise the classrooms where students are waiting to perform. We will need everyone’s help to make this event a success. In the end, it is always a wonderful way to kick off the holiday season and well worth any inconvenience.
Other events slated for December include our Monthly Parent luncheon on Friday the 6th, and Holiday Giving on Monday the 9th. Picture retakes will take place on Wednesday the 11th. I want to remind everyone that our Winter Break begins on December 21st and, therefore, the last day of school is Friday the 20th. Time goes by so quickly this time of year. I encourage everyone to find some time to relax, slow down, and just enjoy the time together.

A NOTE FROM THE NURSE
There are various illnesses going around school, as is typical for this time of year. Remember, if your child is ill with a fever please be sure to keep them home for 24 hours after the fever ends, or they have completed 24 hours of medication if it has been prescribed by your healthcare provider. Time to rest and recuperate is an important part of recovering from illness! Here at school we emphasize the importance of covering our coughs and washing our hands, please help us by reviewing this with your child at home too!
Also, it’s not too late to get a flu vaccine, the CDC recommends that everyone 6 months and older get a flu vaccine yearly.
I hope you all have a healthy, safe, and enjoyable holiday season!

PBIS CELEBRATION, Presented by 3rd Grade 11/21/19
Kindergarten...Kyleigh Trombley is a star student. She is kind, helpful, and always tries her best. She is one of the first ones to join on the rug and is a great listener. Kyleigh is a hard worker and never gives up. She always has a smile and a warm hello. Great job, Kyleigh!
Grade 1...Tyler Herbert has come a long way so far this year. He is eager to learn and is always making us smile. Things in first grade are not always easy but he always pushes himself to do his best. I am so proud of how well he is doing and look forward to seeing how far he will go this year.
Grade 2...Isabella Fuller is a wonderful role model in our classroom. She gives every assignment her best effort, always listens, and consistently strives to be her best. She is also a kind, thoughtful friend. She is a pleasure to have in class! Thank you for making every day better!
Grade 3...Coral Palyswiat is an outstanding student. She comes in every morning with a smile on her face and is always kind and helpful to everyone. She is a hard worker and is always a joy to have in class.
Grade 4...Emma Stephenson is a hard worker, dedicated student, and a great friend. She gets her job done, exceeding the expectations set for it no matter the task. Emma has really taken responsibility for her own learning and has become a great example for her peers to do the same. Emma is there to help whenever help is needed...our room wouldn't be as great without you in it!
Grade 5...Cooper Patnode has been working extremely hard each and every day to be polite, responsible, and respectful. When he saw me come in to school carrying 4 heavy bags, he even offered to help me carry my bags down to the classroom. I know that self control is very challenging for many students, but regardless, he keeps trying his best each day, and I know that this improved self-control will help Cooper climb to new heights along his educational journey. Congratulations, Cooper! I am very proud of you, and happy that you are such an important part of our 5th grade family!
Lunchroom...Kadence Allen & Jaylee Niederbuhl never have to be reminded of the rules!
