New Beginnings Class Newsletter
For the Week of 10/30-11/3
What We Worked On
Read Aloud- We read the story "The Little Old Lady Who Swallowed a Bat" and "Pete the Cat I Love My White Shoes."
Skills- We reviewed our letters from A-E and our numbers 1-5 this week. It was a busy week with lots of activities and fun. Next week we will work on the letter "F" and the shape square. We'll work on the color yellow and continue to work on positional words before, after, above, on, and below.
What Can I Do?
Trick or Treating is a perfect time to have your child work on their words and manners. Model for them how to ask for something (using "please") and prompt them with the phrase each time they would like a piece of candy or treat. Then model the use of "thank you" afterwards, encouraging them to use "their words".
We do this at school each day, even modeling for our students who cannot speak yet. We use signs and pictures as well to encourage them to find an appropriate way to communicate with others and prompt when we hear whines or grunts. We've been practicing "Trick or Treat" and "Boo!" as well this month.
