Opening pheasant weekend at Kolousek Farms is were a bunch of people come to Scott and Amber Kolousek’s house and stay for the weekend and pheasant hunt. We set up tables in our garage and food in our meat room. Friday people come and spend the night and Saturday morning we shoot clay pigeons so that we can practice, we eat lunch, we go walk fields and shoot pheasants, we come back and clean the pheasants we shot, then we eat supper and all the kids play. Sunday morning we have a big breakfast and people start leaving. A thank you to Amber Kolousek, Janet Kolousek and Liza Kolousek who cook or bring food and meals. It is a very fun time and I am looking forward to next year

An Interview With Chloe Munsen
By: Kendall Kolousek
I interviewed Chloe Munsen about her senior project. For her senior project she is going to coach Junior high basketball and hold a heart screening for students. She is coaching basketball because that is a big part of her life and she thinks she will have fun. She is doing the heart screening because that is personal and she thinks teen parents need to be aware of it. For her project she has to coach the players and get in touch with the heart people. Chloe also has to interview someone about her career. She will use kids for both of these projects.
Chloe is undecided which college she wants to attend, but she plans to major in exercise science and minor in coaching. An exercise science degree will let her be physical therapist.
FUN FACTS: She is 5’3 but in basketball she puts herself down as 5’8
Her favorite candy is twix.
Senior Interview Landen By:Kaitlyn Braun
I did an interview with Landen Wolter about his senior project. Here’s what he is doing for his senior project. he is helping coach the land judging kids which included Freshman thru Juniors and put on a land and Range management and a seminar for all ages. I also asked him why he is doing this project? He said he wanted to help other kids succeed at land judging like he did, and also wanted to teach the community about land and range. What does he have to do to get his project done? He had to set up practice times with kids, had to gather materials for his seminar, and provided drinks for the people. Do you have people test your project? The kids and the people he talked to were kind of test subjects for his project. If you already had your project how did it go? It went good he was happy the way it turned out.
He is going to SDSU for ecology and range management science.
FUN FACT: his favorite snack is peanut M+M.
Fun Facts about Mrs. Munsen By: Bailey Roduner and Morgan Mentele
We interviewed Mrs Munsen. Here are some interesting facts about her. Her favorite food is pizza. Her favorite sport is rodeo, and her favorite season is fall. She told us her favorite book is the Bible and she likes the movie Hocus Pocus. Her favorite meal to cook for her family would be meatloaf. If she could ravel anywhere it would be Australia. If she could be anything for Halloween it would be a princess. We picked her because we think she a great music teacher.
Report Card up date by Mrs. Azure
Dear Parents & Students,
This letter is to inform you of our updated elementary report card. The elementary report card is a blend of both traditional grades and standards. Our goal is for parents and students to have a clear report on how their child is achieving in school. Clearer reporting allows better communication among teachers, parents, and students.
Grades 2-6 Report Card: is a combination of standards graded using the Rubric above for each standard and traditional grading using a grading scale per subject. This is the same grading scale used for MS/HS students.
If you have any questions please contact me at the school 539-9500. We look forward to seeing you at conferences,
Mrs. Azure
This link will take you to the WSES Student handbook where you can read the rubric and grading scale. https://wessingtonsprings.k12.sd.us/media/wsk12360webcmscom/Handbooks/Elementary%20Student%20Handbook%202019-20.pdf
Halloween tricks for kids By: Alexis Roesler
This is trick to prank on kids or on adults. On a movie I watched how parents scared kids at a Halloween party. First you take a big tool box and empty out the drawers and put a person in the tool box. Next you cut out a hole that is big so you can put your head in it. Next you get in and put a pail over your head and when it is time say, BOO! Another trick is you sit on a chair and put a cloth over yourself. When trick or treaters come you walk to them and say BOO! You can also make candy eyeballs. First you make dough balls and get green food coloring and white frosting. Put the white frosting all over the dough and put a little green circle on the dough and freeze the eyeballs and be ready to serve.
