Principal's Message
Hello CV Family,
What a great last couple of weeks! You will be able to see some of the excitement below as we celebrated students across campus last week. This is a great time to check in on your child’s academic progress. Projects, tests, reports, etc., are typically coming due at this time of year, and providing that extra nudge is sometimes necessary, at least at my house!
Last week we celebrated support staff and this week we are celebrating our teachers. I am very fortunate to have the opportunity to work with some amazing teachers and support staff and I try to let them know how important and special they are to our entire school community. If there are teachers and staff members that have positively impacted your child and even been supportive of you and your family, please reach out and thank them. An email or a note really does go a long way in showing your appreciation and support.
Lastly, graduation is right around the corner. For families new to high school or Campo Verde, please take some time over the next week to review our final schedule which can be found on our website. It is very different as we need to accommodate testing for a variety of students, especially seniors. Being aware of the schedule will help you navigate the end of the school year.
Have a great week!
Best regards,
Mr. Tyler Dumas

japanese club
In April, Japanese Club did Manga Line. What is Manga Line? It is a little like the game "Telephone" only with drawings. The first person writes a silly statement. The next person draws it. Then you fold away the statement so the next person cannot see it. The next person has to provide a new caption and on and on for several rounds. At the end we see where we started and where we end up. It is pretty funny! The second activity we did was create tattoos. We rebelled against tradition. Why? In Japanese culture, tattoos are considered taboo, and you might even be asked to cover them up if you go to hot springs or public pools. Many Japanese people still associate tattoos with YAKUZA, the Japanese Mafia. Last meeting: May 3rd 2:30 to 3:30 Learning about sushi!
Captions from left to right: Cody Crosland with his OG Yakuza look, Chase Cashion's signature design tattoo, Poppy Brooks drawing manga, Tayler Heron adds finishing touches to the manga line. Emmalyn Tilley adds to a separate manga line.

Physical Education
Our PE Department is excited to work with all of our students in PHYSICAL EDUCATION, SPORTS TRAINING, DANCE, YOGA, and UNIFIED PHYSICAL EDUCATION classes.
PE, Dance, Yoga UNIFORMS:
Uniforms can be purchased in person in our CVHS Bookstore. All students need to have the proper uniform and a combination lock. Please contact Coach Cornell or your PE teacher if you have any questions.
AFTER SCHOOL WEIGHTS:
We are excited to offer another year of "AFTER SCHOOL WEIGHTS" we will be opening the weight room after school on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 2:20-3:00pm. Please see Coach Cornell or Coach Bishop for more information.
LUNCHTIME INTRAMURALS:
We will be offering lunchtime intramurals during both lunches for any student interested in being active. Intramurals will be held in either the mini or main gymnasium and occasionally outside (when the weather cools down). Please see Coach Cornell for more information.
SECURING BELONGINGS IN PE LOCKERS: Just a reminder that due to COVID we are not permitting our Physical Education student's to store their PE clothes in locker's overnight. We are asking our students to bring their PE clothes each day, change out in the locker room and securely LOCK ALL BELONGINGS in a large locker (provided) and then at the end of class period, take their sweaty PE uniform home and wash it for the next day. We believe this will cut down on the amount of bacteria in the locker rooms. Questions, please contact your student's teacher.

Coyote Strength camp
Hello CV Family,
This summer we will be offering our 13th annual "Coyote Strength Camp" at Campo Verde High School (runs Monday-Thursdays June 6th-June 30th - various sessions and times listed on attached flier). This camp continues to grow each year and has been a huge positive success throughout our community. We would like to invite all of our CV Students to join us as we continue to teach the fundamentals of strength, speed, and agility training. More importantly, we will teach the importance of values such as character, commitment, and courage. Our goal is for all of our campers to gain strength, explosiveness, speed, agility, and at the same time learn the importance of developing character and the vision to set goals and and the mind set to chase dreams and make them a reality.
Note: Please contact Coach Nick Cornell with any questions at... nick.cornell@gilbertschools.net

Library Updates
*********************************
Library Information:
April is Stress Awareness Month so we have a display in the library that showcases various strategies to manage stress. We have stacks of books with information on stress and anxiety. On top of that, we have books that are meant to promote different ways students can de-stress (from meditation, to aromatherapy, to daily readings). We hope our students find a piece of tranquility for themselves.
Chromebook Information:
Summer is coming! Encourage your student to take his/her Chromebook into the library to get fixed if they are having any problems with it. When there is no intentional damage, there is no cost to have these problems fixed. And it is better to get it fixed before summer so you have a properly working Chromebook over the break.
Digital Citizenship:
Teens are on YouTube all the time. Use the Parents’ Ultimate Guide to YouTube for any tips to talk with your teens about.
