Day of Dead Art Show

If you have stopped by the library recently, you will see several altars being set up for the 2nd Annual Day of the Dead Art Show. Join us Friday, November 2nd during the 2nd half of lunch as we celebrate culture, art, and love. We will listen to the beautiful sounds of our Lobo Mariachi led by Mr. Prado, enjoy hot chocolate and pan de muerto brought to you by the Spanish Honor Society, and view the unveiling of Ms. Larson's art piece, a collaboration piece between all of her art students, called "Black Light Love." Ms. Larson describes it as art in which we honor and "remember our loved ones in a new light." Hope to see you there!

*If you are interested in setting up an altar, there is still time. Last day of set up is Tuesday, October 30th.*

Create an altar and a lesson on empathy.

This wonderful article from the Teaching Tolerance magazine illustrates the cultural importance of Dia de los Muertos. They put it best:

This holiday, which is distinctly different from Halloween, presents a wonderful opportunity to foster empathy among students.
