BUILDING “CLOSED” TO THE PUBLIC

In an effort to keep the staff that will be working in the buildings safe and allow our custodians to do a very deep and thorough cleaning, our offices will be closed to the public until further notice. Although hours will vary, there will be staff working in the office. Most days, there will be someone in from 8:00-11:00 and 12:00-3:00. Please don't hesitate to contact us at 614-548-1700. If necessary, we can make arrangements to be available for you to drop something off or pick something up. We encourage you to call or email any of the staff below so that we can be sure someone is available and on site to meet you outside.

NOTE FROM ATHLETICS PER OHSAA AND OHIO DEPT. OF HEALTH:

All facilities and fields are closed for student or public use until further notice.

Chromebooks

Students in Grades 5-11 will keep their chromebooks through the summer.

  • The PLSD Technology Protection Plan (TPP) will extend coverage through the first day of the 2020-2021 school year.
  • Students will also have access to continue using District provided digital curriculum (i.e iReady, ST Math, BrainPop, ALEKS, etc.)

Grading for the Last Trimester-Clarification

Because we had so many questions, we wanted to clarify grading in the simplest way:

1. Yes, students are still to do their work and complete assignments even if they had a passing grade on March 13. Pass/Incomplete does not mean you don’t have to do the work. Students must show understanding of the standards/main points for each subject. We are giving work that aligns with the standards so that we can see if you understand the main points. The work we are giving, while not as much practice as we would give face to face, is still necessary to understand and complete for when you advance to other courses.

2. Students will earn an Incomplete if they haven't demonstrated the minimum level of learning and have things to complete to demonstrate their learning.

3. No one fails this trimester. Students that get an Incomplete will have until September 30, 2020 to complete their work. When they do, they will get a "P." If they don't, the incomplete will turn into an F.

4. Over the next couple of weeks, work assigned should start slowing down. Teachers will be working hard to have ALL students caught up and earning a "P" for this trimester. We promise that if the student reaches out for help in earning that "P," the teacher will be more that willing to provide that support.

Please don't hesitation to reach out if you have any additional questions.

Did You Order a Yearbook? Did You Miss Out on Ordering?

We received good news from our Yearbook company after Governor DeWine's latest announcement:

  • Yearbooks – Printing of yearbooks will resume on May 12th.

Once they have been printed and delivered, we will relay the plans for picking them up. We will have some extra yearbooks available to purchase. Please contact the school if you are interested in being put on "Extra List" and we will do our best to get one to as many as we can. Be on the lookout for updates later in the summer through Infinite Campus and our Social Media pages. Thank you for your patience with this!

Interested in a Virtual Signing Yearbook Page?

IT’S A VIRTUAL SIGNING PARTY

Students love signing yearbooks, but we know that’s not happening for most of us — at least not right now. That’s why Herff Jones partnered with Kudoboard to bring your school an online solution to yearbook signing parties and a discount on a premium account.

Friends can post messages, photos, even videos. Students can choose the background and color combos to customize their boards. It’s easy to sign up, and the first 10 posts are free.

When students or parents use the promo code HERFFJONES2020 they’ll get 35% off a Premium Board (which lets students have up to 100 people add posts to their boards) or 50% off a Milestone Board, which allows unlimited posts. Discounted group rates are available for your school, too.

OTHER RESOURCES

Face-to-Face Tech Support Schedule

Pickerington Schools’ technical support hours: Each Wednesday, you can get help with your student’s device between the hours of 2 PM – 4 PM at the District Office at 90 N. East Street. Please use use this link to register for service. Only devices that are unusable may be brought in during these times (e.g., broken display, won’t power up, dead battery, etc.).

Locked Out of Device

If your student has issues logging into their device, please have them email their teacher, admin, or counselor and they can put in a help desk ticket for a password change. If students do not change their password when prompted to do so by the device, their password will eventually stop working and they will be locked out. Obviously, they will need to use another device to email or have someone email for them.
