BOY Student Orientation
Hello JRLP Families!
Our excitement continues to grow as we get closer to welcoming students and families back to school for the 23-24 school year. JRLP strives to build strong relationships and community in our school to create a learning environment in which all students thrive. Each year we build upon our orientation programming for students and families based on challenges they may have experienced throughout the previous year of learning.
This year we are excited to welcome students and families to a robust in-person orientation experience. Students will be able to meet their teachers, peers in their classes, and engage in meaningful learning to prepare for the synchronous remote school experience at home. Families will also have the opportunity to complete all registration requirements, learn more about how students thrive at JRLP, and have an opportunity to see the student experience in our remote platforms.
Having this experience will prepare students and families to support each other through our learning platforms. While we know that our families choose synchronous remote learning for a variety of reasons, including the need to remain remote without in-person experiences, we have found that all students have a stronger connection to class when they are able to see their school community in the physical sense. Please know these requests for in-person activities are incredibly intentional based on feedback from our community.
In addition, Colorado State Law requires a physical proof of Colorado residency, among other registration documents. This requirement will be completed during our in-person orientation experience.
Our focus this year is to build a community of leaders within us all and create an environment where all students thrive! Please come join us for our free community lunch and orientation.
If you are unable to attend due to an emergency situation or unforeseen circumstances, please complete this form.
We are excited to hear more about all of your summer adventures and look forward to seeing our entire community the first week of school!

Registration Information
Dear Families,
Below are several important updates to review before the 2023-24 school year begins in a few weeks.
Back-to-School Annual Update
At the start of each school year, it is important to complete the registration process for your student(s). The annual update allows you to:
- Provide Jeffco with up-to-date information about your family. It is critical to have the most up-to-date contact information for you and your emergency contacts. Accurate contact details allows us to reach you promptly in case of any emergency or to share the most up-to-date information about weather delays or cancellations, events and information.
- Opt-Out Information: During registration, you will have the opportunity to update your preferences about the release of directory and yearbook information. By taking a few moments to update your opt-out information, you can have peace of mind knowing that your family's privacy is respected.
- Student & Family Handbook and Technology Use Agreement: It is important to maintain a safe and respectful learning environment for all students. By signing the Student & Family Handbook and Technology Use Agreement, you and your student are agreeing to follow the guidelines that foster a positive and safe learning environment. Signing the Technology Use Agreement allows students to access district devices and software. If this is not signed, your student may lose access.
- Enroll in transportation services
- Reminder: Under district policy JFBA, students who attend option schools (with the exception of district alternative programs), as well as those who choose a school other than their boundary school, are not eligible for transportation. Given the current workforce challenges that continue to contribute to bus driver shortages in Jeffco, Colorado and around the nation, the district is not in the position to consider granting temporary permissions for choice-enrolled students until September 5, 2023. The Transportation Department will prioritize restoring service to all transportation-eligible students on a route before considering providing service to students who are not eligible for transportation. If you would like your choice-enrolled student to be considered for transportation services after September 5, please contact your area transportation terminal.
- Pay required school fees that contribute to educational resources and activities that enrich your student’s learning experience.
- Set up your student’s school meal account or complete the Meal Benefits Application.
We strongly encourage all families to start the new school year off strong and take approximately 15 minutes to complete the annual update process. Contact your student’s school if you need assistance completing the annual update.

Healthy School Meals for All
Thanks to the passage of Healthy School Meals for All (HSMA) by Colorado voters, all students in Jeffco Public Schools who attend a school participating in the National School Lunch Program will now have access to healthy and nutritious meals, at no cost, beginning in the 2023-24 school year, regardless of income eligibility. Families are still strongly encouraged to complete a Meal Benefits Application. Completing this application helps with additional education funding for schools and may allow for waivers of school-related fees.
Additional Non-Student Contact Days
As a result of the negotiations between the district and our teacher association, additional non-student contact days have been added to the district calendar. These additional days only impact elementary schools (PreK-5, PreK-6), middle schools (6-8), and K-8 schools. Educators will use these planning days to work on tasks relevant to their positions that benefit student learning. View 2023-24 district calendars.
Please add the following dates to your calendars:
- Monday, November 13
- Thursday, January 4
- Friday, January 5
- Monday, March 25
Please Note: High schools (9-12, or 6-12 and 7-12 junior/senior) will have school on these additional non-student contact days.
Healthy & Equitable Start & End Times
As a reminder, Jeffco Public Schools is implementing new start and end times for schools across the district this school year. Individual school start and end times are available on Jeffco's website.
Enjoy the last few weeks of summer!

You may have received notification that all students in Colorado will receive free of charge student meals. Please read the following:
In order to participate in Healthy School Meals for All (HSMA), a school must be operating the National School Lunch and Breakfast Programs. Under the current requirements of the National School Lunch and Breakfast Programs, virtual and remote schools do not qualify. These programs require that students be enrolled in a ‘brick and mortar’ school site and that meals be eaten onsite in a congregate setting. The USDA recognizes that these requirements are challenging when so many students are moving to a remote format for their schooling and as we understand, conversations regarding changing these regulations are occurring. However, until these regulations change, remote and virtual schools are not able to participate in these programs and therefore the Healthy School Meals for All program.
During the COVID 19 pandemic, there were a number of waivers in place that allowed for students in remote and virtual settings to access meals from Jeffco. The first being that meals were served under the Summer Foodservice Program (not the National School Lunch Program) which allows for meal service to all children ages 1-18 in a community. The second is that there were waivers in place that allowed for meals to be eaten off site (at home or elsewhere) and for multiple meals to provided at one time. These waivers are no longer in place.
Bear Creek is looking for boys to play tennis. It’s a “no cut” try out, so all high schoolers are welcome.
