Hybrid Update for Parents
October 1, 2020
Dear Sunflower Families,
Thank you so much for your continued partnership as we strive to meet the needs of all students! On Monday, September 28, the Lawrence Board of Education voted to transition our current fully remote learning model to a hybrid learning model beginning October 19. You now have the opportunity to choose the learning model (hybrid or distance learning) that will best meet the needs of your family. This chart summarizes the two available options.
Over the coming weeks I will be sending out important messages detailing information on our new procedures such as arrival, dismissal, food service, supplies and safety procedures. Please read these carefully, as school as we know it is going to look very different and the protocols we have designed are meant to keep all stakeholders safe in our school. You can read our entire logistics and safety plan linked at the bottom of this message. Over the coming weeks I will be highlighting the important parts that parents need to be made aware of. For example, students may not be dropped off prior to 8:30 in the morning to reduce the number of students congregating so we can maintain social distance.
Here are some things you could be doing now in preparation:
-Label all school supplies with your child's first and last name, including iPad charger
-Purchase a personal pencil sharpener (not electronic) and place in supply box (K-1) or the supply pouch in the AVID Binder (2-5). We will have some extras available, please contact the office if you would like us to provide one for your student.
-Purchase a water bottle that will need to be sent daily filled with water and taken home daily for cleaning and re-filling. We will have some extra water bottles available, please contact the office if you would like us to provide one for your student.
-Practice wearing proper mask wearing (see pictures below) and review the district safety video with your child (see video below)
