Principal's Newsletter

From the Desk of Ms. Clark

January 10, 2019

Dear Parents,

Be it known to all who enter that Christ is the reason for our school. He is the unseen but ever present teacher in its classes. He is the model of its faculty and the inspiration of its students.” Throughout the school year, we are reminded of the many ways our school community portrays and shares our Catholic identity. We know that by the time our students graduate from 8th grade, they are well aware of this identity. Each day, we help our students develop a true understanding of your gift of a Catholic education to them!

As we focus on our Catholic Identity and our school’s mission, I invite you to join us on Wednesday, January 23rd for our annual “Walk for Life.” We will gather in the gym at 1:15pm for prayer prior to our departure. We make a public, pro-life statement as the entire school community walks down Holland Road and through the neighborhood behind school. It really is a special day!

Catholic Schools Week is rapidly approaching. Please mark your calendars for our Open House on Sunday, January 27th. During Catholic Schools Week, the students, school families, and faculty will enjoy various activities that celebrate our pride in Catholic education and the mission of SKD school. Please see the posted agenda for this special week.

Let us pray for our young people every day. In the words of Archbishop Chaput, “Let’s recall the reason our school exists. Each of our students is eternally precious and infinitely loved by God. What they learn in their classrooms, they need to see lived with joy in our lives.” Together, we can fulfill our school’s mission and form Catholic leaders who will remain true to their Catholic identity.

God’s blessings,

Ms. Clark

Coding and Robots

Our fourth graders are having a blast working with their new ozobots! Thank you to our generous donor who equipped our students with more robots.

Living our Mission

Just before Christmas break, our first grade collected 222 pairs of pajamas for "the Great Bedtime Story Pajama Drive," a program run by Scholastic book club. For each pair of pajamas donated, scholastic donated a book along with the pj's to a needy child. Thank you to everyone who contributed for making us #ProudToBeSKD by living out the promise of our mission to form #CatholicLeaders through #ChristianService!
