Celebrate Hope!

Welcome to Middle School!

We look forward to making a difference as we LEARN and GROW TOGETHER this school year, developing lifelong friendships, filling buckets and in turn sharing a piece of our hearts. In doing so, we expect to pursue academic excellence with compassion!

Meet the Teacher Night

We look forward to all sixth grade families joining us!

Wednesday, September 1, 2021, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. You are invited to meet your child's teacher, learn more about this year's curriculum and ask any questions you may have. We will be emailing you a link to a video you can view prior to attending the open house. The video will provide information about the sixth-grade curriculum, an overview of the class field studies we take this school year, and classroom expectations and procedures. Please make an effort to view the "Meet the Teacher" video. Should you have questions regarding the content of the video or questions regarding the upcoming school year you may speak to us the evening of Meet the Teacher Night. We appreciate and value your feedback and look forward to a wonderful year of getting to know you and your child!

Staying Organized with Keep Google Chrome Extension

Keep is a great tool for your child to create daily reminders, check-lists, or notes to save for later. We will teach students how to use Keep to aid their productivity and organization. Much like a planner, students can create reminders about upcoming due dates, tests and important events.

The Google Classroom

Your child will have access to Google Classroom where all assignments for math, ELA, science and social studies will be shared. We will spend time the first two weeks of school understanding all of the important features of the Google Classroom. Below is a tutorial created by Mrs. Boyle we strongly encourage all parents to view and reference should they have questions about Google Classroom. Students will be required to view the tutorial as part of a class assignment. Please take the time to view the tutorial and let us know if you have any questions.

Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore Permission Slip

We are excited to have the opportunity to take our sixth graders to The Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore! The cost of the trip is $175. We are accepting deposits of $55. Fundraising opportunities will be an option to families who wish to participate. Lapeer Area Discount Cards will be the first fundraiser of the school year. Each card is sold for $10 and contains discounts at various Lapeer area businesses. Students make 60% profit for each card sold. For example, if a student sells one card, they can earn $6 towards the cost of their trip. Cards may issued to students ONLY if the parent/guardian has signed a contract. Contracts will be distributed to students interested in selling cards.

The permission slip and refundable deposit of $60 is due Monday, October 4.The deposit will be used to pay for busing expenses through Dean Transportation.

Chaperones are welcome to attend the trip. However, we are only able to transport a limited number of chaperones to the U.P. and from trail head to trail head. If you are interested in attending the trip, please keep in mind that we hike approximately 4-6 miles a day and climb about 500 stairs. It is important that those who attend are physically able to hike and assist with putting up and taking down tents. Additionally, those who volunteer to attend will be asked to help assist Chatfield staff and students during our stay at the campground and at meal times.

If you would like to attend, please complete the chaperone drawing slip attached to the field study permission slip. The chaperone drawing slip should be submitted no later than September 17. We will conduct the drawing Monday, September 20. A letter will be sent to those who submit a slip notifying you if you will attend the trip or if your name will be placed on a wait list. Chaperones who wish to attend the trip must be a parent or guardian of the student. Chaperones are expected to submit a $60 deposit and the chaperone expectations contract, failure to do so will result in losing your spot to attend the trip.

Permission slips will be sent home TUESDAY, AUGUST 24.

Thank you!
