NEWS FROM THE HEADS
The highlight of my week was the visit of Year 9 girls to Lexmark, for an exciting opportunity for them to see how an innovative and forward looking company undertakes its avowed policy to ensure that women in the company aspire to the highest roles.

This week our activities started with a bang and it just so happens that this coincided with the BBC reporting on the benefits of after-school activities, and the benefits that they can have to academic performance as well as other things.

We are all very excited about “Hatch Watch” taking place in the Nursery hall with the 10 live eggs arriving on Monday. We have seen the hatching take place and have a healthy brood of 9 chicks at the time of writing! This coming week they should be strong enough to handle so there is more excitement to come.

Parking
Parents are requested not to park on the double yellow lines inside the school grounds, particularly close to the minibuses or reception. A through route is vital at all times. The disabled bay is also used throughout the day so please do not block access to this or use it if you are not a blue badge holder.
Summer Fete Poster Competition - Attention all Junior Girls
Don’t forget to enter the competition to design the poster for the Summer Fete. The theme is ‘The Great Outdoors’ and the Junior Girls have received the information on how to enter through their class teacher. The closing date for entries to be returned is Friday 6 May 2016
Boat Club Dinner - Saturday 7 May
Tickets are available for the Annual Claires Court Schools Boat Club Dinner which will be at the Senior Boys Sports Hall from 7.00pm to 11.00pm This Black Tie or Henley Attire Dinner is a great event. Guest Speaker will be Tom Aggar GB Paralympic Champion and four-times World Champion. Tickets £35 per adult, £30 per student and Family Ticket £115 (2 adults and 2 children). The Booking Form is also available from Reception.
The Boat Club would be most grateful for any raffle prizes or items that could be auctioned on the evening. These items can be left at Reception. Thank you.
Parental Questionnaire
Thank you if you have already completed the Parental Questionnaire. If not, we would be most grateful if you could take the time to complete the online survey. Responses from parents are vital to help us review what we do and plan for the future.
If you have more than one child, please complete a survey per child. The survey closes 22 April 2016.
PTA NEWS
As we return to school for the summer term our PTA committee are focused on the upcoming Summer Fete on 25 June. This year the theme of our fete is 'The Great Outdoors', a theme inspired by the allotment and bushcraft projects the PTA have recently supported.
If you, or anyone you know, would like to take a stall at this year’s event please contact me at emmarobertson@hotmail.co.uk. We are also looking for a number of raffle prizes. If you are able to contribute something please contact me at the same address. Your support, as always, is much appreciated.

All Year 9 girls have taken home letters inviting them to join the Carnegie Shadowing activities in Senior Book Club this term. Most of the shortlisted novels are only available for those aged 14+, so this is a perfect reading list for this year group. To make a start, just come and choose your first book from the Library…
