We Are Family - October 25, 2021

Dear Parents,

The Jamboree is coming up on November 6th. This is a great evening of fellowship for our school and parish community. The event traditionally includes chili tasting, children's games, a draw down (reverse) raffle, the teacher wishlist, a jail and bail, and other fun activities. it will be an indoor/outdoor event to allow for social distancing.

The Jamboree Committee could use help with various activities including

  • ticket sales before/after weekend masses
  • event set up
  • event concessions
  • chili contest participants - bring your best chili in a crock pot and your grandest table decorations
  • event tear down
  • and more

Jamboree 2021

The annual Jamboree and Chili Cook Off will be Saturday, November 6th starting at 6:30 PM. This event will be held in Zore Hall and the north parking lot. We invite you to join us for an evening of entertainment, delicious chili, and a raffle with a grand prize of $4,000.

All families have received a letter along with raffle tickets to sell to friends, family, or anyone who is interested in our grand prize and supporting our school programs. The money raised by the raffle goes directly to our parent group and is used to support our school.

All Souls Remembrance

We will remember and pray for our faithful departed during a school mass on November 11th at 8:45 AM. If your family has experienced a death in the past year, we would welcome the opportunity to pray for your loved one. Please complete the form at https://forms.gle/PkaD6JvZgGWWQqnQ7 and we will add your family member or loved one to our remembrance. The loved one does not need to have been Catholic.

We will read your loved one's name during an entrance procession and place a candle in our memorial display at the foot of the altar.

If you would like to send a picture of your family member to be included in the display, please email a digital copy to Janet Abdoulaye at jabdoulaye@saintsusanna.com by October 30th. The pictures will not be returned.

Vaccination Clinic - Hendricks County Health Department

Many routine doctor's visits and vaccinations were put on hold over the last year as we all dealt with the impact COVID had on our health care system. Many of our students are behind on their routine vaccinations that keep them safe from hepatitis, meningitis, pertussis, chickenpox, and more. The clinic offered on November 30th by the Hendricks County Health department is a great way to get your student caught up on required vaccinations.

School Counselor

I am happy to announce that Saint Susanna has a school counselor available for our students on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Ms. Katie Evans comes to us from Catholic Charities. She is a licensed clinical social worker / therapist. She will work with students on an individual basis, as needed. She will also teach whole class social-emotional lessons on topics such as being a good friend, bullying, and other age-appropriate topics. Ms. Evans presence in our school is made possible by utilizing a portion of our EANS grant from the federal government over the next two school years.

Students may be referred to Ms. Evans by teachers or the principal for a one-time visit. After that, parents must complete an consent form for continued visits. The consent form is available at the end of the Monday Memo or in the school office. You can reach Ms. Evans directly at kevans@saintsusanna.com

Volunteer Opportunities

The service hour tracking form can be found here and a copy will be sent home in the back-to-school packets. We ask that each family complete five service hours this school year. These hours can be completed during school or parish events.

Easy Fund-Raising for Saint Susanna Catholic School!

Box Tops for Education

Here’s how it works:

  • Step 1: Download the new Box Tops App (iTunes or Google Play) – it’s free
  • Step 2: Create a username and connect it to your child’s school
  • Step 3: Scan your grocery store receipt. Items with the new Box Tops label will be automatically credited to your school

Does this mean I should stop sending in my paper Box Tops that I have already clipped? No! Continue to send those to the school!
