Week of October 8th
Enjoy the four day work week!
Message from our Counsellor, Tracy Tillapaugh
Good morning,
I am the (temporary) counselor here until mid- April. I am here Tuesdays and Thursday mornings.
I have a list of students from last year that were recommended to see a counselor via SBT. I am aware that things often change for students year to year, and some students from last year may be doing wonderfully this year, and vice versa.
I will be contacting some of you to ask how the students on my list are doing, and if you feel like you might want me to see them. I may also just stop by depending on my schedule.
If they were not students here last year, I ask that you please fill out the counseling referal in the staff room and contact a parent first, so that a parent is not surprised if I contact home.
I find that sometimes there is some confusion about the role, and about the difference between myself and the Child Care Worker role, or, in this case, between what Riana and I do. Although there is crossover in the sense that we may see the same students, the lense that I am looking through is primarily mental health. I am looking for signs of depression, anxiety, attachment issues, loss/grief, family dynamics that may cause stress, etc... Riana will be looking at behaviour, primarily.
I am also responsible for overseeing students designated with an R, including writing an IEP. If you have a student with an R designation, I will be contacting you to help me review the IEP and possibly meet with parents.
Please let me know if you have students that you are concerned about that may fit into the parameter. Allison had the advantage of knowing the students, and you may have students that are not yet on my radar.
Thank you so much.... long email, I know.
Tracy Tillapaugh.

Free Apples
Our family has more apples than we would ever need, compliments of our backyard tree. Lindsey Scott is doing a unit on apples and I'm bringing a class set:) for her..... If you need any apples for your class, or yourself, let me know and my kids will pick you some..
I would describe these apples as large and taste OK, but are mainly used for baking....(or that's what I've heard!)
