History of the cell theory
By: Dawson Logan
Robert C. Hooke
Robert Hooke was born on July 18th, 1635, he eventually died March 3rd, 1703 he is the creator of the cell theory, unknown family.
Where and when?
Robert C. Hooke made this amazing discovery in London, England on January 01, 1653!!!!! This amazing discovery was about 350 years ago!!!!
How?
Robert Hooke looked at a thin slice of cork through 50x and made history, he named the objects "cells"
Why cell?
Robert Hooke studied and studied the cells and their shape and form and very closely looked at them and named this great discovery a cell!!!! He named this a cell because it looked like a room that the munks lived in which was called a cell
Anton Van Leeuwenhoek
Anton Van Leeuwenhoek
Anton Van Leeuwenhoek discovered bacteria in the cells, example: sperm cells, blood cells. He was born on October 24th, 1634. Death and family unknown....
Magnification
He also helped by increasing the magnification in the microscopes, he increased the magnification by simply polishing the lenses with helped you see the cells more clearly which in return gave him the power to see that bacteria and be apart of this great cell theory.
Theodor Shwann
Theodor Shwann
His date of birth was December 7th, 1810 he died in January 11th, 1882, he lived to the age of 71 which is actually old for there time
Compressed cells in plants?
Theodor Shwann made an amazing discover stating that not all living things have compressed cells, he made this discover in 1837
Matthias Schleiden
Matthias Schleiden
Matthias Schleiden was born on April 5th, 1804 and he died on June 23rd, 1881 he lived for 87 years!!!!!!!!!!
Side kick!
Matthias Schleiden was just a partner, he was one of the helpers for theodor Shwann and he just did the little jobs, this is why theodor Shwann is known more for this cell theory
Rudolf Virchow
Rudolf Virchow
This scientist was born on October 13th 1821 and he eventually died in September 5th, 1902, he made it just over 80 years of age!!!!
