Reminder - No School November 23rd - November 26th

Hello, Kipling Cougar Families!

I just wanted to take a moment to wish all Kipling families, students and staff a happy Thanksgiving. I cannot begin to tell you how thankful I am to be at Kipling School. The staff, students and families have been wonderful to me and I will be forever grateful that, in a challenging time, people have gone out of their way to welcome me here! Kipling is a special place and I am honored to be a part of it.

Be safe, be happy and be thankful!

Parent Teacher Conferences

On Monday, I will send out an email with a list of all staff Zoom links. You will need these links to access your teacher for Parent-Teacher Conferences. These links will be sent out at 3:30 PM on Monday, November 22nd. Let me know if you have any questions.

Great Show 5th Grade Orchestra!

Our fifth graders did an amazing job at their 5th grade Orchestra Concert on Tuesday! What a talented group of musicians. It is hard to believe that last year was a Covid year based on their talent development. Mr. Friel has done a great job harnessing their skills! A huge congratulations to him and all of the members of the 5th grade orchestra.

Progress Reports - Available Beginning Today in Family Access

Progress reports have been released in Family Access. The District 109 progress report is based on the principles of “standards-based grading” which is a way to communicate what students know at a point in time rather than calculating an average of performance over an entire period. Standards-based grading measures a student’s performance according to the standards taught rather than comparing student progress to other students.

Shield Testing

Due to increased testing volume across Illinois, DPS109 now receives SHIELD results within 48 hours. This slower turnaround time impacts our ability to contact families prior to the next school day with results. We ask for your continued partnership in keeping students healthy and in school. Please complete Daily Health Certifications, and make sure your contact information is current in Family Access to help your nurses/staff efficiently make notifications and contact trace.

2022 - 2023 School Calendar

The official 2022 - 2023 School Year Calendar was approved by the Board of Education on November 19th, 2021. Please see the calendar on the DPS109 website.

Thank you to everyone who supported the Kipling Book Fair! We were thrilled to see so many of you and we’re happy many families took advantage of the wishlist fulfillment option this year! A special thank you to the Book Fair volunteers. We could not have had as successful of a Book Fair without your support!
