Club Opportunities

Chess Club K-6

This year, the K-6 Chess Team will be coached by a RM parent, Johann Ohly. Midwest Chess Academy no longer has a coach that can serve our building, but Johann is a wonderful MVP certified replacement with lots of experience learning and coaching this fascinating game. The club will be offered on Wednesday mornings at 7:10a, from Sept. 11-Dec. 18th.

There is not a fee to join the club. The kids will be working toward competing as a team in three or four competitions during the winter which have a small entry fee. The final competition is the Kansas Scholastic Chess Association State Championships which brings several hundred chess-loving kids from across the state together in March. More details will come from Mr. Ohly regarding registration and fees as these approach. Please utilize the following link https://forms.gle/LEYPCXAp8XGkCxGJ9 to sign up for this opportunity.

Navigating Your Child's Mental Wellness

Wednesday, Sep. 25th, 6pm

8301 Mission Road

Leawood, KS

It is our hope that SPEAK UP will provide education and awareness, bridging gaps between our community, schools and parents. We wish to encourage conversations with your children, provide adults with a navigation system regarding their child's mental wellness, information on how to identify warning signs, and offer resources if you think your child is at risk. Most importantly, teach kids that it is okay to ask for help!
