Chromebooks are coming HOME!!!

Starting TODAY, your child will be bringing their Chromebook home with them EVERY NIGHT! Your child has been issued a special Hornet bookbag that has a padded space for their Chromebook to keep it safe. Your child will be bringing home a letter from Mrs. Collinsworth today detailing the student responsibilities, financial responsibilities, and other tips and tricks for using the Chromebooks at home.

Chromebook Responibilities

Please help your child to be responsible by making sure:

  • homework gets completed on the Chromebook each night (don't worry, they can still use them if you don't have WiFi at home!)
  • The Chromebook gets CHARGED every night! The charger does not need to come to school.
  • The Chromebook gets packed in their Hornet bookbag each day.
  • Keep food and drinks AWAY from the Chromebook.
  • Store in a safe location! Do not leave in a car or open area.

Chromebook Consequences

Each student will receive 1 sheet containing 4 coupons that can be redeemed as a "free pass" if they forget their Chromebook. We will have loaner devices that the students will use during the school day in this case. However, each time the student has to use a coupon, they will lose 3 points on Class Dojo. For every time the student forgets their Chromebook after that, they will be assigned a Thursday night detention until 5pm as well as losing their Dojo points.

There are also financial responsibilities in the case of damage to or loss of the device. Please refer to the handout from Mrs. Collinsworth for a reminder of these possible charges.

Most importantly, this device is owned by Beech Grove City Schools. Please help us teach your children how to be positive digital citizens by helping them to make good choices of how to spend time on their Chromebooks at home! All of the traffic on their Chromebook WILL be tracked on a program called Go Guardian, and students may still suffer consequences at school if they are using their Chromebook in an inappropriate way at home.

Progress Reports

Believe it or not, this week is already our mid-term! I will be sending home a paper copy of mid-terms on Thursday for any student receiving a D or an F in class. Please sign and return these papers to school so I know you are aware. All parents with an email address on file with the school will also receive an emailed copy of the progress report for their child, regardless of what their grades are. As always, you can stay up to date by checking Family Access on a regular basis to monitor your child's progress. See below for instructions on how to use this program!
