Buddhism
-Siddharth Guatama started the religion in northern India.
-They are neither polytheistic or monotheistic, they follow the teachings and beliefs of Buddah.
-They believe in 5 major laws, do not lie, steal, kill, misuse sex or intake alcohol or any other drugs.
-Buddhism has been around for over 2,500 years.
-Worldwide there are around 200-500 million followers of Buddhism.
-Lots of buddhist schools were started and this spread the ideas and beliefs of Buddhism.
-Buddah is the holy figure in buddhism.
-Their holy book is called the Tripotaka.
-One of the most popular Buddhist lessons is keep trying until you get something right. Try things multiple times, instead of one because you're most likely not going to achieve something the first time.
Christianity
-It developed out of Judaism.
-Jesus and God are the two head figures of Christianity.
-Christianity is followed under the ten commandments which state: Thou shalt not kill, steal, destroy, have any other gods before me, make idols, take the lords name in vain, commit aldutery, bear false witness against your neighbor & covet. Thou shalt remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy and holy your mother and father.
-The Christian holy book is the Bible.
-Christians are monotheistic and follow only one God.
-It has been around for over 2000 years.
-One of the popular Christian stories is about Noah. God told Noah that he was going to cause a huge flood to wipe the evil out of the world and everyone was going to die except Noah and his family. He was told to build a giant ark and gather two of every animal in the world. Noah followed Gods commands and him and his family were safe.
-Jesus would gather people everyday and teach them lessons about the Bible and read Gods word.
Judaism
-It is a monotheistic religion.
-Abraham, Isaac and Jacob are credited as the founders of Judaism.
-The holy book is called the Torah.
-The most popular God in Judaism is called YHWH.
-Jews believe people should be judged not so much by the intellectual content of their beliefs but by the way they live their faith and how much they contribute overall to the holiness of the world.
-A popular Jewish story is about a group of people who were on a boat. One of the people took. drill and began to drill a hole beneath him, everyone asked him what he was doing and he said it was none of their concern he was drilling under his own place. They all told him that he would flood the boat for all of them.
-Judaism spread by Jews moving to various countries and they took their religion with them.
