Message From Mr. McCracken

LTMS Families,

It is hard to believe that the first month of school is nearly over. Thankfully, we have had a tremendous start to the school year. September is an even busier month, with several activities, including parent-teacher conferences, so be on the lookout for information from Skyward as well as the weekly newsletter.

Go Panthers.

Late Start Day September 22nd

The Board of Education approved three (3) delayed start days for the 2021-22 school year. The first delayed start date is Wednesday, September 22. Students will begin school two (2) hours later than normal. Students will need to be at school for their first class at 9:55 a.m.

Students who ride the bus will simply add two hours to their normal pick up time. For example, if the normal pick-up time is 7:15 a.m., the pick-up time on September 22 would be 9:15 a.m.

Teachers and support staff will report for duty at their normal time on September 22. Schools will utilize time with staff for needed training and professional development. The other two dates for delayed starts will be October 10 and April 6.

LTMS Highlights

Family and Consumer Sicence

There are some great things taking place in FACS. The 8th graders made "sewing games" to help the 6th & 7th graders study and practice for their quiz. 8th graders had to recall sewing tools, sewing safety, and machine parts to make the games. In 7th grade, students are making Tooth Pillows to send over to the first graders at Starside. At Starside they are going to receive a Tooth Pillow when they lose their first tooth! It has been great to see students excited to hand sew, show creativity, and give back to the community.

Weekly Emails Home

Our pathways, SPED, and ELL staff kicked off the weekly Tuesday emails home to parents. Not only is this teaching good email etiquette and how to craft a high quality email, it's also helping students and families communicate with each other. Students are learning to take ownership in their grades and communication! Please take a moment each week to reply to your child's email.

Goosechase in PE

Using the "Goosechase" app (this would be fun at a family reunion or event), Mr. Smith introduced students to his PE class. Not only did this get them moving, it forced them to collaborate and build relationships with students in their class. Some of the activities included taking a team photo, leap frog, choreographing a dance, imitating Mr. McCracken, and many other fun activities. He mixed in expectations along with the teambuilding activities to set students up for a great year in PE!

Pep Assembly

We had our first pep assembly last Friday and the students had a blast! It was awesome to feel the excitement and energy pulsing through the gym. Check out the video below to see our spirit!
